Wow! Did your parents have a bunch more kids after they joined? How many brothers and sisters do you have? And do any of them follow in your parents’ footsteps?

Are they still practicing?  Are you still participating in any of the teachings?  How is your relationship with your parents today?

Sorry if that’s a bombardment of questions, I just am super curious. It’s like if one of those Duggar girls left.

@208bride:  what does “practice courtship” mean?

Do you still talk with your family?

@fancymichelle:  Wow. How are you adjusting to the real world now that you aren’t under their lock and key? Did you go through a wild spell? Are you grounded? Are you completely disillusioned with religion now? There are so many things I could ask you!!

@fancymichelle:  What always interests me about these threads is this…

– Do you still believe in G-d, however you conceive him/her to be?

– Have you reconciled your problems growing up wiith your current belief system (or lack thereof?)

– How do your parents feel about that?

@fancymichelle:  Wow. This lifestyle is just SO interesting for me. I watch the Dugger’s becuase I am just generally curious. I just don’t understand the whole “skirts are more modest” concept? Seems to me that pants are actually MORE modest, because you’re less likely to flash someone – wind, getting out of the car, bending down, etc. Soooo when a family is super into courting and the whole gothard lifestyle, what happens when a kid decides to rebel? Are you still close with your family?

@fancymichelle:  Oh really! So, I am wondering and I hope this doesn’t seem rude… But if you had chosen to stay in the cult and do courtship, would you have been successful after having a baby or is that super taboo and you’re-tainted-goods type thing?

@fancymichelle:  interesting and mind opening, thank you for doing this! Another question: how does your dad’s vasectomy sit with him spiritually? I’ve heard those puppies can be reversed. does anyone treat him differently in the church because he’s been snipped?
