I’ve been to one wedding (that I wasn’t a child at) so I don’t have a ton of experience. But they didn’t do a garter or bouquet toss!

I have been to a wedding where there were to favors

I have been to a wedding that had chocolates instead of cake

I have been to a wedding that didn’t have dancing and everyone played games or cards or outside (it was at a lodge)

I HAVE seen at weddings:

  • The bride had THREE dress changes (different layers coming off)
  • Casino games and dealers brought in after dinner
  • Photobooth
  • Money dance
  • Cupcakes instead of cake
  • Candy bar
  • Ceremony that only family was invited to (more people invited to reception that immediately followed)
  • Couple who was already married in civil ceremony
  • A bus chartered to bring guests from ceremony site (near all of the hotels) to reception site and back

I’m sure there are others…

I have been to a wedding that had

  • a bulldog in a top hat as ring bearer
  • chicken fingers, fries, and pizza as the dinner
  • No alcohol
  • All soda was kept in a plastic garbage can filled with ice

It was interesting.

I don’t like the idea of the garter, I’ve been to about 5 weddings, none did the garter or the bouquet toss

@SoCoBlue:  I feel like the first one on that list would make everything else ok!

I HAVE been to a wedding where…

  • There was a best woman instead of a best man.
  • There was a 6 hour gap between ceremony and reception.
  • There was a cash bar after a certain time.
  • The dinner was entirely vegan and there was no alcohol.
  • The outdoor venue flooded (backed up drains + massive NE spring thunderstorm with scary lightning that struck nearby and resulted in HOT firemen being called) just as the dancing began.
  • There were two brides.
  • The ceremony was a full catholic mass.
  • The ceremony was protestant (born again?).
  • The ceremony was unitarian.
  • The ceremony was secular.
  • The cake was given as the favor and there was a different dessert.

I have been to a wedding where…

  • I was only invited to the reception, because it was a Mormon wedding.
  • No alcohol was served.
  • The reception was on a Tuesday evening.
  • There was a candy buffet.
  • The couple had the dollar dance.
  • The DJ played an American Idol game with the crowd.
  • The cake was orange, blue, and pina colada flavored.
  • No bouquet/garter toss
  • We have pictures of all of us riding the ice sculpture.
  • A local BBQ place catered…and it was the best wedding food ever.
  • No favors

  • where the ceremony and recepption were fully outside
  • where there was no bridal party
  • where there was no garter or bouquet toss (no bouquet at all)

* the bride got so drunk she could hardly stand up for the grand march

*a grand march that included the entire wedding party in hunting gear with antlers included

*instead of clanking glasses for a kiss for dinner we had to eat a gold fish!

*no favors (a lot actually!)

*the weddding party spent the whole night at the bar or outside smoking 🙁

I’ve been to a wedding where there was no silverware/utensils.  And you needed them to eat the food.  It was awkward.
