The thread about stereotypes of the places we lived got me thinking. When I say im from chicago, what immediately comes to peoples minds before they have actually gotten to know me? So bees, Im from chicago, without any other info on me what would you think of me based on where I come from ? be honest 🙂 I can take it.

Honestly I just thought wow its cold winters in that city. lol Nothing comes to mind about the people that live their. LOL This coming from someone who gets a ton of jokes about where I am from may be why. LOL I am from WV lived in NC for 20 years and everyone will always see me as the WV girl and tell jokes about it! BAH! LOL

@stardustintheeyes: I’m from Chicago too – so I’d probably think you’re pretty great! [/font]

I knew some mobsters from Chicago, that’s what I think about. But, I don’t associate the person I’m talking with as being in the mob.

@stardustintheeyes: I wouldn’t assume anything, really. I haven’t heard any stereotypes or have any particular thoughts about people from that area. I guess what I’m trying to say is, I’d think you’re normal! ;o)

I am so guilty of judging people when I hear where they’re from!
Although I have to say Chicago would not bring up any bad judgments- I would mostly just think you’re educated, normal, trendy as it’s a city, etc.

I would think of good pizza and cold winters, nothing really negative in my opinion. And how much I’m looking forward to visiting next year. I get a ton of negativity my way with being from philly, but I love my town 😉

I would think you are pretty bad ass. 🙂 But I might be biased.

I would assume you’re friendly- I was blown away by a trip there 2 years ago how nice everyone was (vs. NYC, for ex.) 🙂
And, you’re “hearty”- I LOVE Chicago, but I went to Syracuse University, and I can’t deal with cold like that anymore.

I’d assume you’re a lucky girl! I LOVE Chicago!

Your accent and that it is cold. There is nothing really bad to say about people from Chicago IMO…

Good pizza, the Navy Pier, and cold weather but not as cold as MN.. is what I think of Chicago
Post # 15
Well, some of my best friends are from Chicago, so I think that you are probably pretty great! However, I am a southern girl with a Ph.D. who votes Democrat, loathes grits and country music and has no clue why people watch NASCAR. So clearly, I don’t put much stock in regional stereotypes!

@Sassygrn: the navy pier…. only out of town people add the ‘the’ lol here its just navy pier. You are not the first to add the ‘the’ and im always like wait what? oh you mean navy pier.
awesome! so far nothing really bad about us chicagoans! our pizza is fantastic! it gets deathly cold in the winter but im used to that so to me if it does not get below about 30 to me, thats not winter. And this winter we got very minimal snow which was also very bizarre.
@Kate0558: this is tricky for me and has caused lots of problems the past few elections….I used to vote straight democrat….then I started forming my own opinions instead of voting how my family always votes…and now I have no idea what I identify with most.
