Oh my Fiance and I talk about this all the time:

-$350,000 towards a house (in our area that would buy a simple 3 bedroom home and pay for paint, a fence, and any necessary upgrades we might need)

-$500,000 in a high interest savings account/investments and use the money we make (interest) to pay for fun things like vacations and such

    -$10,000 for a cool vacation

-$50,000 in a “repair fund” for our house (cause things break!)

-$40,000 to pay for my “wages” while I’m on mat leave once we get pregnant

-$50,000 to be divided among his two brothers, my sister, my parents and his mom

I would start a national network for reporting animal abuse.  Now it differs by city/county – the Michigan Humane Society will only take reports for Wayne county, some cities make you file a police report. . etc.

I want one place where you can report animal abuse in any city and someone will respond.

I would invest most of it.

But Darling Husband and I are preparing to buy a house so we would pay for that in full and go on an awesome trip too.

    1. Pay off student loans

    2. Try to slip some to my parents, but they wouldn’t want to take it… I’d have to find a sneaky way of doing it. Maybe take them on a vacation.

    3. $5000 makeover (indulging my shallow fantasy)

    4. Save

First thing I would do is the Funky Chicken dance lol

Then call my boss and say I QUIT!!!

Then we would be paying of our debts

    Then invest the money

Then I would open my own bakery.

Take a nice vacation somwhere warm.

Pay off all student loans and then I’d buy a nice future home for my family. Around here homes like that are about a million dollars for a nice 5 bedroom single family home. If it’s paid off, then I’d invest my own salary.

Winning the lottery is a pipe dream of mine. If only I played…

First priority would be to pay off debt. After that, I would buy a house. After that, I would give some to my family and invest the rest. I would probably also take a nice trip to Japan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Iceland, and parts of Europe.

If that’s a million in cash then I’d pay off my house and quit my job and invest most of the rest, and travel a ton more.  If that’s going to get taxed, I’d probably only end up with like 600k, and that wouldnt be enough to quit but I’d still pay off the mortgage and travel more.

    Pay off our house/car loans.

Renovate the outside of our home and landscaping.

    Go on a fabulous vacation.

Put a good chunk aside for both of our children’s future college/weddings.

Buy a decent/safe car for both Darling Husband and I.

Give the rest to our families.

I’ve dreamed of this a LOT.

    – Pay off my student loan debts and both our credit cards (fortunately this would only cost about $60k)

    – Help my mom and grandparents pay down their outstanding debts. I believe it’d only take about $100k to do this, maybe a little more.

    – Put $100k (each) into two accounts for my brothers’ to use as college funds

    – $25k for our wedding/honeymoon

    – Invest a good chunk

    – Move to a bigger apartment

    – Go on a mini-shopping spree for new clothes and furniture, etc. for us

    – Save the rest 🙂

At this point in our lives, I don’t think purchasing a home, even with an extra million, would be a wise move. So we’d simply find a nice apartment to live in and continue to save, building off of that money and whatever our investments return to us.

When the time came, we’d also use a good amount to start a college fund for each of our children.

    • Pay off all debts.
    • Buy both Fiance a work truck for his business
    • Buy myself a car since I always have shitty ones
    • Go on a really nice vacation
    • Buy a fixer upper house and gut it completely.
    • Give some money to my grandparents to help them out.
    • Put rest of money aside for savings/children/etc.
