No way! Give me my $2 eyeliner!

Sometimes... I spend my money on... (fill in below)

My face is a priceless canvas. You bet I spend money on it!

I find that face makeup is DEFINITELY worth the splurge, but I never pay tons for eyemakeup anymore. I always get revlon color stay eyeliner (works the best for me), and try new drug store mascaras all the time. I just can’t tell the difference in the expensive stuff there. I don’t wear eyeshadow though, but I would imagine that would be worth the splurge?

I always purchase more expensive makeup because frankly…it lasts longer. I buy something from a drugstore and spend $12 on it, but wind up needing more in less than 3 months. I spend about $8 on an Urban Decay eyeliner, and it lasts around 8 months. I definitely think more expensive makeup is worth it, to an extent. I still refuse to pay MAC’s prices on anything. I normally stick to Smashbox, Urban Decay, Bare Minerals, those brands. ๐Ÿ™‚ Even the eyeshadow is a huge difference because the pigment is so much more rich and gorgeous.

For sensitive skin, Bobbi Brown is FANTASTIC!  Highly recommended, and I’m REALLY sensitive to so many things. I would also try Urban Decay out. ๐Ÿ™‚

I voted for sometimes I splurge. I actually prefer the cheap eyeliners because sometimes the expensive stuff doesn’t smudge enough and it’s too hard to get it the way I want it. But I would spend ridiculous amounts on a good foundation. And I use DDF facial moisturizer- it $40 a bottle but I’ve been using the same bottle for like 3 years now and it’s perfect for my skin type. Eye shadow depends… you can get heavy pigmented shadow for cheap or pricey. I do love the expensive palettes though. They come in such pretty cases ๐Ÿ™‚

I much prefer my NYC $1.99 eyeliner over the $18 clinique crap that I bought in sephora.  But I love my diorshow mascara, I will splurge on that time and time agsin.  For my face I buy neutrogena, tried nars and it did nothing for me

Depends.  For an event like a wedding I would spend a little more and get a kit like the Smashbox sample kit because it’s made to be photographed.  For every day I splurge on base but cheap out on the rest.  I pay over $30 for Clinique base because it looks better on my skin and doesn’t cause me to break out like the cheaper base makeup.  But I love NYC, ELF, Rimmel, and Cover Girl for my blush, eyeshadow, etc…  I will spend the extra money on Avon for eyeliner and mascara though because my eyes are sensitive and they are the only products that don’t irritate my eyes.  I do try to only buy Avon during sales though.

I said yes, for some things.

With eyeshadow i think you can go middle of the road. You CANT buy cheap stuff because it just wont stay on and the colour will be really light. I bought some Maybeline this weekend and its actually really great and lasts quite awhile. But i have some Avon colours and they are just crap.  For any concealer or coverup the more expensive versions are always better. Same with blush, powder and bronzer. For liquid eyeliner i use Rimmel because i prefer the applicator and its fine, it stays on all day. For pencil eyeliner you need more expensive. Lip stick i dont think it matters.

For make up brushes you should purchase more expensive ones.

But for those that have sensitive skin (like me), you need the hypoallergenic make up such as Almay or Clinique.

edit: and i am a make up fanatic but i prefer to find cheaper alternatives. We cant all buy Mac everything so just test things out and see what works best for you.

Some things yes, some things no.

For example, I use Dior or MUFE Foundation as it just looks much better than any budget foundation I have tried. Same with Mascara, I only use YSL Faux Cils as I have spend $$$$$$$$$ on crappy mascaras over the years and have come to the conclusion that this is something I just have to spend money on. Eye Shadow, Liquid Gel Liner, Eye Liner Pencils, Chubby Sticks etc I’m happy to use budget brands like Rimmel or Maybelline. They work equally well. Lipsticks I prefer the pricier ones but I often cant justify spending $40 so I’m cool to use $18 MAC lippies or something like that.

I love Clinique makeup, so I splurge on that.  But I try to wait until there are the sales where you get tons of free stuff with a purchase (like this week, when it was get a 7 piece gift set with a purchase!)

It depends. I buy the more expensive makeup when it comes to foundation, primer, and eyeshadow (usually..I have purchased cheaper eyeshadow and had decent results).

I stick to drugstore brands on items like mascara, eyeliner, and lip gloss.

im somewhere in the middle. i found a cheap 2 dollar eyeliner at walgreens and its by far the best one I have ever used. I also have a ton of drugstore eyeshadows and stuff but my base make up is all mid range with price. I don’t have anything super expensive but I would say my foundation and setting powder costs between 19 and 25 dollars a piece. Granted it works like a dream and my skin isn’t 18 year old skin anymore so its worth the extra. I keep the rest cheap so I can afford to keep up the expensive base make up ๐Ÿ™‚

Most makeup is definitely worth the splurge. I love Sephora & Mac and spend wwaaaaayyy too much money there. But there are some items that you can get drugstore brand that are just as good. For example, foundation Revlon colorstay is a great foundation that works just as good as high end stuff. The only thing I don’t like about it is the smell. Mascara, I have never used anything other than Loreal, not worth spending the extra money on high end.

Things you should definitely go high end on:

-brushes- high quality brushes make all the difference in applying makeup

-eyeshadows-this is one alot of people cheap out on but I totally think high end is worth it. The eyeshadows at Mac really aren’t that much more than a drugstore brand. And they are way more pigmented, stay on all day and don’t crease. One pan lasts forever. Totally worth the money

-primers-priming your face ensures your makeup stays on all day. Definitely worth a good brand like smashbox or really expensive like hourglass
