Alright, I posted this thread and got a million comments that the sash doesn’t look good.
Here’s this post: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/ive-put-it-all-together-dress-accessories-veil-how-does-it-look
I’m going to wear my sash no matter what.. I paid TOOOO much money to not use it. I do love it. So I can’t do anything about it now with it being too “thin” However, I could probably take it to my seamstress and have her change the color of the ribbon to something else.
This is it when I bought it:
This is it now:
Here’s my ring, shoes, flowers and Bridesmaid or Best Man.
Heres the idea for the Maids:
Here’s my Reception/ceremony decor (We’re getting married in the reception space. With everyone sitting in their reception tables and watch us get married)
(Cobalt Blue vases – this is a rough mock-up. Not the finished version)
So with everything together… does my sash still look off? Should I change the color of the sash? What color should I change it to?

@mandigrl04: Don’t change the sash!! I love the sash you have and I don’t think it looks bad with your dress at all! 🙂

I think it looks fine, even without seeing all of the details I thought that 🙂

If YOU love it, that’s all that matters. I can see how the royal blue and slightly different style than normal of it could look unusual to some people, but when I see it with your other items for the wedding, I think it fits right in.
That’s a big risk of asking people their opinions – nothing will be everyone’s taste, and for some people (I would be one of them!), it can be hard to shake negative opinions.
You look BEAUTIFUL, you LOVE it – and that’s what counts. Enjoy it and don’t put another thought into it!

@mandigrl04: I know I was one of the people who called out the sash, but I really think it’s lovely! Don’t you worry, you look fantastic!

I love it!!! Please don’t change it! And if you do change it, then mail it to me because I really do think it’s that pretty!! =o)

I absolutely adore your sash – don’t change a thing! Everthing looks so nice together, I think your wedding will be beautiful!

I think it’s beautiful! My suggestions would be to add a necklace that has that same shade of blue to bring the color up near your face, and/or I wonder if it would be possible to add a wider same-blue sash underneath the one you already have, which would make the bling on the outer edges of the sash “pop” more AND give you more color. But you’re going to rock it no matter what, it’s a gorgeous sash and it goes beautifully with the dress.

Ok, I went back to your last post to see what people had said and I think I see what they were talking about (maybe). The first picture you posted you had the veil forward and it looked totally different for some reason and I think where the veil rested drew attention to the belt and that’s why it was called out. I think it looks much better with the veil back and once again, think it looks great even without seeing all of the other details.

I think it looks good with the sash. And i love how everything goes to together! Your wedding is going to be so pretty.

Thank you all! I just don’t want half of my guests to be thinking “What is she thinking that sash is disgusting on her dress!” lol
I know it’s supposed to be about what I want and love…. I just don’t want a million people to hate it. I know it might not be some people’s style, and some might hate it… but I just don’t want the majority of people to hate it.
If that makes any sense. lol
@Jijitattoo: I have looked for some jewelry and I haven’t found anything that I love as much as the Nadri necklace that I’m wearing… perhaps if I do find something better, I’ll resell that necklace on ebay.
I do think your suggestion of adding a thicker ribbon to the sash -behind it, could be an interesting idea. I think I might try that to see how it looks.

I like your sash option soooooo much better than the origial one that came with the dress. I think that as long as it matches your color scheme and wedding feel that you shouldn’t change it for the world! Who cares what other people say- I’m sure it will all make sense on your big day!
(on a side note- I do believe it is a teensy bit crooked/ off centered… perhaps you could have your seamstress tack it to the center of the dress to prevent any awkward photos?)

@futureboo: It is off centered. I will have it tacked on day of. Just haven’t seen my seamstress yet!

Just read your other post…. here’s another option that you might entertain just to see. In the other post, some people were saying to try a thicker sash- and they may be on to something. My dress came with a thin sash and I swapped it for a thicker one- and it made ALL the difference!
You could try to layer your awesome blingy sash over a plain ribbon that matches the accent color to give the sash more width… this would be oh so easy to try out just to see if you might like the look better (I found that it made me look more curvy- yay!) Just a thought.
Maybe post a pic?

Now that I have seen everything else DO NOT change the color. I still stand by wider. Does the seller make a wider one and would allow for an exchange? It’s a very beautiful sash!
