When I moved in with my Fiance and we were ready to go camping. I took the cooler from the basement to clean before putting food in it and found a binder there decorated by his ex-wife with letters that he wrote to her etc… when they were dating. It was a bit awkward to find it and since she obviously didn’t take it with her during divorce I didn’t want it in our house either so he destroyed it.

She also made him a picture of a tiger from cross stitch that he had on a wall which was nice and i didn’t find out that she made it for him until few months after and it was bothering me that he cared for it so much. We finally got rid of it in the garage sale this spring.

I once found a photo of my exbf (we are not together any more) of him surrounded by completely naked strippers.  I found it because he displayed it on MY duchess in MY bedroom and thought that it was ok to do so.

There was the time when I first moved in and going through the stereo and came across a recording of the ex wife reading a self help (snort) book… Then I saw the wedding album out in the open in a corner.  He promptly threw out the cd and moved the album to the basement.  Ugh.

My Mother-In-Law put our wedding photo in a frame above a photo of DH and his Ex-FI. We came across it when we were changing the frame out with his Father-In-Law. She claims she didn’t know it was there. WTF. Seriously!? How the hell she didn’t see it when she put our photo in is BEYOND me. Needless to say Father-In-Law agreed that the old photo needed to be destroyed.

@missporkchops:  Ugh, there is a wedding photo of FIand his ex-wife on his dad’s wall and it drives me bonkers.  But his dad pasted a face of a magazine model’s face over the ex so I guess that’s a compromise.

Youd better believe we’re giving him a nice framed wedding photo of US for Christmas this year. 😛

Ugh .. let’s see… I’ve found a bunch of CDs with her music on them, photos on his computer (nothing naughty, but still bugged me), her work schedules, trinkets and gifts he got from her, physical pictures, handwritten notes, etc. They’re still friends, so I’m constantly finding things. She is not friends with me though.

Our grill was a present from her to him long ago, but I had him give up all the living room furniture she gave him when he moved in with me (mine was newer anyway).

The latest is he offered to wash her comforter in our washing machine since she doesn’t have a full size washer at her place and I found out that the pillow cases on our bed are the matching ones to her comforter. That wasn’t cool.

Mostly pictures. Pictures everywhere. I set that straight pretty quickly. He’s never found anything from my ex, as I didn’t keep anything. When it’s over – it’s over!

Fiance has never really had any lengthy or serious relationships before me, so I don’t have to worry about finding any mementos from past relationships. Heck, we’ve been together for over 4 years now and he really doesn’t hold on to much of our stuff. A few pictures and birthday/christmas cards maybe and that’s about it.

Dh never lived with any exs but he has boxes of stuff from his parents house when they moved we were going through with letters and gifts from his ex. They gt chunked. The funniest thing is ALL BIL’s wedding pictures have her in them. Best part is dh and ex broke up two weeks later and we met. Facebook also has a lot of dh and ex pictures from stuff like prom and formals. Its funny to read comments from his friends about them!  And Mother-In-Law has pics of her up from when they dated too. To me it is more about that is who he was then than a commentary on him now.

@missporkchops:  FI thinks he keeps it up because there’s a whole wall of the family wedding photos – I am silently hoping and praying when we give him our wedding photo he replaces it.  Seriously.  FI’s been divorced over 6 years.

@mrs_pudding_pop:  Send the Future Father-In-Law an engagement photo ASAP. I don’t think that’s appropriate AT ALL. Wedding photos or not. It’s a failed marriage.

But then I was brought up totally diff… My parents would always have my “bf at the time” also take a picture for us so we had two versions of every photo he was in. When things ended, the one that he was in would get tossed. My mom always said it was “disrespectful to my future husband” to display pictures of past relationships. When it was reciprocated for me with my In Laws… there were nasty words exchanged.

@missporkchops:  FI and I had arguments when I first moved here over it, it made me feel uncomfortable but honestly there’s not much Fiance can do.  We didn’t have engagement photos taken but our wedding is in a few months so we’ll see.

All I’ve found is an earring in the dresser and an old tube of lipgloss in the car. He actually asked if the lipgloss was mine. He had no idea. He had purposefully gotten rid of all that stuff before he and I got together, though. His ex wife really did him wrong, and he didn’t want anything around to remind him of her.
