Where is it being held? Could you just make an appearance?

Yes you have to go.  You are part of the team now and have to make them see you that way.

I think it would be a great chance to get to know your coworkers! Don’t feel bad about being new. I went to a work event similar to this within my first few weeks and I didn’t know anyone that well, but I had a great time and really got to know my coworkers a little better.

although you might feel awkward i would still go – being new, its a good way to be seen as someone that joins in and say a few times how glad you are to be welcomed so nicely by the group

I’d go to be part of the team and get to know people.

Ah, ok. I would go then. If it’s sit-down, then at least you’ll get to know a few people better.

Go-this is a perfect opportunity to get to know people. I would advise either not drinking, or drinking very little, though. You want to make an impression, but not an inebriated one.

You should go. They might be offended if you DONT go. This is also a perfect opportunity to get to know ppl.

I would definitely go.  It is a chance to get to know people and loosen up a bit.

I voted “other”. I think you should go, but to be honest, I probably wouldn’t. I think it’s a little bit intimidating to show up for dinner and drinks with people that you don’t know, and I just don’t think I would follow through, even if I felt like I “should”.
