This is probably more relevant for the most recent bees as it is most comparable!
If you are from the UK or elsewhere outside USA, convert to US dollars 🙂

Our first and forever home was 550k 5 years ago. Simiilar house down the street just sold last month for 620k so it’s probably worth a little more now. I was 31 when we bought it.
prices where we live seem expensive!! Ours was the equivalent of 440k USD. We have a bit to do on the house but luckily mostly just to get it to our taste.
It won’t be our forever home as we only have one drive and three bedrooms (with the view to having three kids plus guest room)
I meant space for one car on the drive but I can’t edit for some reason!
$360k or so. We live in an expensive city and bought in the burbs. Inner city this wouldn’t buy much lol.
We bought in a suburb and paid $260,000. For 1,500+ sq feet in SoCal, I’d say we got a really good deal.
Cost of living is pretty low in Texas. So our 1900sqft 3bed/2ba/ 2 car garage was only $140k. We live in a city of about 300k people.
My Fiance and I just paid 170k for a 3000 sq ft, 100 year old farm house, on one acre, in the same town
This poll is so skewed because of cost of living. I’m in Seattle ‘burbs where the average median home price is $350-400k. We bought our first home in our 20’s as a forclosure. It has been gutted to dirt and rebuilt but we STILL paid $140k. Where we were born and raised (Michigan) that would buy a beautiful home! I think its hard to compare dollar amounts with such a broad audience.
Our first home was $420. It’s now worth about $550 (thank goodness!). I’m in So Cal.
I bought a 3 bedroom 2.5 bathroom condo, a little under 1300 sqft for $170k in 2012. It was a foreclosure and I put about $25k into it for renovations before I moved in. It was just appraised for $302k. In southern California.
We are at a loss about where to buy our next house because everywhere is so expensive now (for safe area AND a good school district and at least a 4000 sqft lot it’s at least $500k). I’d like to move out of state but we’ll see if that happens.
150k and it is a townhome (still live in it). We put a lot of money into it to fix it up. We weren’t ready for a bigger “family home” yet and we didn’t feel comfortable spending that money. Our house is pretty small but does the job now in a good neighborhood. The homes that we we’re looking at originally were like 250k for crap. Crappy homes and a for a crappy neighborhood.
House prices vary so much from towns though, it’s crazy.
We are in the Southeast. Just purchased in April and we paid $135k. It’s a townhome about 10 years old, 1700 sq ft, 3 bed, 2.5 bath, 1 car garage, and 2 car driveway. It was pretty much move-in ready.
