My fiancé gives great gifts but his mother…..

A few years ago for my birthday she sent me this document she had made that explained the origin of her maiden name. It is framed so I can hang it up in our house. She also mentioned that ran across it while cleaning out her house to move.

My current SO of just over 2 years has been really good with gifts, so I can’t complain.

However my ex was quite the individual.                                                                He mostly forgot birthdays and anniversaries etc…                                                       On one of my b-days (we were together for 7.5 years) he didn’t get me anything, no dineer, not even a card.                                                                                                            I was a bit upset because i really didn’t expect much, just some small amount of thought into my b-day. I mentioned something 2 days after while we were driving and he got a little upset and drove to the bank, took out some $ and came back to the car just to put the $ on my lap and said: “Here, buy yourself something”.

When i remember that moment, i am really really happy we are no longer together  🙂

I’m sure he put a lot of thought into it, but Fiance once gave me some wireless headphones with a usb connector or something.  I’ve never used it… not once.  He would have been better off buying it for himself!

@raye9289:  HA!!! That shirt is so vulgar and yet so awesome at the same time. I would never have the guts to wear it in public. Did I hang up the “gift”? H*ll to the no. If she doesn’t even like it enough to hang it up in her own house then wtf would she send it to me to hang up?!?!? She’s a great lady, but I sometimes wonder if she smoked too much during the Woodstock days.

I learned quick what to do about gifts with the people in my life. I make a list on amazon and a few months before whatever holiday, I email the link. It’s worked pretty well for me.

Except for my cousins. Who I suspect hate me. 4 years ago, at 22 I got a fucking coloring book from my aunt. A FUCKING COLORING BOOK. Not even a cool one!! Like..something from the dollar store. WHY DO I NEED A COLORING BOOK AT 22? the same year my cousin got me a set of cardboard nesting boxes with these just awful cats on them. Like they werent even cute. I threw them away.

I took the coloring book to the bar and let the bartenders….and anyone who walked in play with it. They hung those pictures up for months after.

I can’t really complain, the SO has been pretty good with thoughful gifts.  A couple years ago, he got into getting me stuff for my car.  He bought me a auto-start kit for my car…. buuuuuut never got it installed.  3 years later, I still have the kit, sitting in a box.  Woooo!

I got an electric toothbrush for Christmas. And that was my “big gift.” For the record, my oral hygeine is perfectly fine, I brush twice a day, floss, and use mouthwash. But apparently it was very important to him that I have an ELECTRIC toothbrush.

ok my gift really isn’t that bad but my SO is the first man who has bought me jewelry for gifts and that is pretty much all I want from him so last Christmas he got me a gps for my car and I was a little disappointed. It is a nice gift but I typically travel with him and he has one. He actually said he considered giving me his old one and keeping the new one! I wasn’t thrilled lol! But he took my kids and I to Disney in April so I just consider that my real Christmas gift.

Luckily Darling Husband always gets me gifts I like, but his parents…. The first Christmas we had together, the week before our wedding, my Charismas present from my Future In-Laws was FIL’s used old “Spot” which is a GPS thing where you can check in without having to have cell reception. So my present was something to let my Future In-Laws be big brother while we were on our freaking honeymoon. And it was used, Father-In-Law wanted the new model so we got his old one. :/

@blueberries123: LOL, well I mean it’s nice to have, and I do use it, but…it would have been a better “just because” gift than a holiday gift! He claims he is going to give me replacement heads for it for my birthday…I hope he’s joking!
