I wanna hear your text message horror stories. Who all has sent a text to the WRONG person before?
I can’t say that I ever have, but my sister did one time and it was awful. She went with her stepmother to a weight loss meeting. When she saw how much her stepmother weighed, my sister sent a text to what she thought was my mom, “Omg! (Stepmom) weighs 250 pounds!” Well, you can guess who she ended up sending the text to instead, right? That’s right. After the meeting, they got in the car and her stepmom checked her phone and saw the text. She was heartbroken, embarrassed, and mad. My sister was humiliated (as she should have been, I have no idea why she felt the need to share/criticize someone’s weight).
Let’s hear your stories! I know this has to happen often…

I was complaining to a coworker about another coworker. Unfortunately it went to the coworker I was complaining about. She was upset and sais she doesnt talk about people behind their backs.
Yeah right. She talks to me and complains to me about others. And I used to work with a very nice lady and she said to stop talking about your life with her becasue she talks about you behind your back.
So I roll my eyes when I think about it.

I’ve never had a “horror story” one but did laugh when my sis texted me
“Omw, be right over”….
and she lives 2 hours away. I just txted back “Something tells me that wasn’t to me” lol

It wasn’t horrible, but it was still bad…
I was telling a friend of mine, A, about a really awkward situation with a mutual friend of ours, B, and of course, because B was on my mind, I sent it to her. Oops. (It had to do with me not asking B to be a bridesmaid, and how I had to tiptoe around her…)
Luckily, I didn’t say anything bad, like, “I hate B,” it was just …. awkward.
always always always double check your recipient if you’re not ok with the whole world reading your text, just in case! 😮

Nothing bad but kind of funny. I was traveling with work and tried to text Darling Husband before takeoff, just a quick “Love you, talk to you later.” Instead I send the text to my coworker, who I was sitting next to on the plane. He just laughed and said “Love you too.”

Me, me! I have a horror story. Before I met my fiance, I had been introduced to a Middle Eastern man. He was attractive, smart and definitely not looking for a relationship. Against my better judgement, I slept with him. The next day I felt bad about it, because I’m not the type to have one night stands. I texted my friend something like, “I can’t believe I slept with him. It didn’t mean anything, and I shouldn’t have done it.” Well, I ended up sending it to him instead! This is a true story! Needless to say, he and I didn’t talk much after that.

- Wedding: September 2011 - Bent Creek Winery (Livermore, California); Reception: Family Residence (San Ramon, California)
I’ve got a voicemail story that was pretty creepy. One day when I was at work, I got a call from a wrong number. Since I was at work, I couldn’t answer my phone, and it went to my voicemail. Instead of just haning up, the caller left me a message saying that I sounded cute and should call him back so we could go out. Um, no way! And he didn’t sound cute at all – he sounded way creepy!

when i was in high school, a friend of my recent ex asked me out. being the shy, silly teenager that i was, i said yes though i thought it was too soon after the break up to date anyone.
the text message i sent to him, that id intended to my best friend, went along the lines of ‘crap crap crap, justin asked me out and i said yes! i didnt know how to say no! and now we’re going out on friday’
needless to say, we didnt end up going on that date after all. cringe

I am compulsively checking the recipients to all texts that I wouldn’t want everyone to see. I am OCD about it, actually. I guess it’s better safe than sorry 😛
@Bronte12: Wow, I guess it upset him that you said you didn’t know how to say no? He must’ve took it to mean you didn’t like him, but said yes out of pity (rather than you didn’t want to date so soon after a breakup).

I haven’t, but my boyfriend has been on the receiving end of a couple funny ones. We’ll pretend his name is T. He likes boardgames.
We have a gay friend he’s played boardgames with before. He got a text from our friend one night saying “Hey, I’ll pick you up for the tranny club in 5”. Confused, he writes back “Um, hi”. Our friend wrote back “OOPS! I meant to text GAY T, not GAME T.”
Another time T received a penis shot of his friend on the toilet. Meant for another gay guy named T, not my T. lol. I guess it’s something about T’s name.

I’ve sent stuff I meant to go to a friend to Facebook. Luckily it wasn’t too bad, but now if I’m heated or it’s something embarrassing like me and the husband just had sex I make sure to check it out first.

I never have, but I have gotten some. One from a friend. She sent an intimate text meant for her SO. It was funny for me. But she was mortified. She called me right after I texted to tell he wrong person. She called me right after to apologize, I could tell her was red even over the phone. Anyhow, I didn’t care, but I know she was embarrassed.
2 other times, I got some from strangers. One was kind of intimate, the other was not but it made me laugh.

Just a word to the wise, ALWAYS delete your naked photos from your phone and have your Fiance do the same (if you’re into sending those types of photos). Fiance and I found a phone in the grocery store parking lot that had tons of naked pictures of this chick in it. All I could think was that I’d die if someone found my phone and I had those kinda pictures in it!
@SleepingWithNuns: Yeah, I compulsively (OCD style) check to make sure stuff is going to the correct person.

@parasol: I thought I was the only one who’d experienced that sort of creepiness before! One night when I was in high school, a man called me and started talking to me in the middle of the night. He asked me if I was Jessica (which I am not), and I told him he had the wrong number. But, he engaged me in conversation (I was sort of thinking it was a prank from someone I knew, so I stayed on the phone). He kept asking me if I’d like to go out sometime, to which I responded no to.

I don’t know that I’ve done it with anything bad, more like ‘oh hey, please shut off the coffee maker’ and then my mom states away will say ‘sorry, not making the trip up today.’ LOL.
Buuut, my mom and sister have both sent angry/mean/complaining texts about each other to ‘me’…but instead to each other. And I know my sister has sent a rude one complaining about me to me IN FRONT of me…she heard my phone ding, looked at hers, and bolted to mine to delete. Snottypants.
I did get a text requesting contributions for the surprise limo for the bride’s bach party this weekend. I’m the bride. LOL.
