I thought it would be fun to see the other side of the “Things people with kids say to those without…” coin. Here are some of my favorites:
My kids won’t act like that.
I would never spank my child. (If you relied on the non-parents statements only, you would believe that 0% of children are spanked)
I am going to cloth diaper, make my own baby food, etc. (True, some do, but I have found follow through once the child is born to be about 25%.
I am not going to let being a parent change who I am.

“I will always XYZ when discipling my child”
The belief that if a parent declines an adult only event they have attachment issue. Or that they will be home miserable changing dirty diapers- I guess it tells you their priorities if they would rather be home with dirty diapes than somewhere else.

I will never put pop (soda) in a bottle… (I can honestly say this will most certainly be the truth).

Oh, and also “it should only take me a couple months to lose all the weight.”
I, for one, have never had a child, but I’m convinced that … it will only take me a couple months to lose all the weight after giving birth

Oh I’ve got several. But I think most of mine have already been mentioned.
One thing I can say though, is that if I’m able to, I’m definitely exclusively breast feeding until they’re a year old.
Oh and I’ll be rear facing them (car seat) until they’re at least 2.
I’m honestly not sure of a punishment routine yet… Me and my Fiance were both raised differently and have very different views on spanking and punishments. Thats something we’ll have to get to and discuss.
And something else I’ve decided on, absolutely no pop/soda. Not even for us adults. Hopefully that will be the final kicker in getting me to stop for good. I dont want my kids to get addicted to it like I am.

@iarebridezilla: I dont have kids yet, and that annoys me also. Theres a snotty little 16 year old girl thats pregnant (she’s a customer of mine) and she’s always going on about how she’s going to look just as good as she did before. Secretly I’m always hoping that it takes her forever.

“I’ll eat very healthy when I am pregnant. Lots of low mercury fish for the omega 3, and veggies. I will also exercise several times a week. And I will try not to eat many carbs, to reduce the risk of gestational diabetes.” —> Me, before my BFP and morning sickness.

Schatzie821 It makes me cringe when people are absolutely dead set on gender. Um… what exactly do you plan to do if it doesn’t turn out like you want? Tell your kids they failed your expections from the second they existed?

I will not raise my kids infront of the tv.
I know that people think that will change when I have my own kids, but it drives me crazy everytime I see someone always putting their kids infront of the tv just to keep them occupied and get some peace and quiet….It’s one thing to put the kids in front of the tv for a small amount of time in order to do something, but every minute of the day is bad parenting.

“A baby doesn’t make you THAT busy. You should WANT to get out!”
“I will never have my child attached to me like they are spoiled.” It’s a phase, get over it!

@MrsFuzzyFace: I am not going to let being a parent change who I am.
hear that one all the time. My coworker said she’d have her baby, be back in 6 weeks and I was silly for bemoaning my 12wks. TIME that baby came, she changed her tune!lol
