I found out on Friday that I’m 5 weeks pregnant and I’m already starting to show, we think it may be twins. We’ll find out this Monday. But so far for me, I don’t care what I look like, I’m pretty petite anyway at 105 lbs 5’3 3/4 so it’s not hard to see changes in me lol But I just don’t like the buzz kill of “wait until they are teenagers” “you don’t know what heartache is until you have a child” “there’s no way you can push a baby out”. Comments like that.  I find it hurtful, especially at such a precious time as this. People should just be positive with their comments and avoid anything that isn’t a compliment. lol Like your list! It’s a great list!!!! And for what it’s worth- I think pregnant women of any size or shape are absolutely beautiful. You’re carrying life, and your body is announcing to the world that you’ve created a miracle and are nuturing and housing a little baby. That’s picture perfect in my eyes. Congrats to you Smile

lol I am not pregnant but my husband and I were talking about this the other day. I told him when I’m pregnant basically the only things he can say to me are “You look pretty!” and “What can I get for you honey?”

Here are a few exchanges between MrDane and myself in recent months:

Me “I’m soooooo HUUUUUUNgryyyyyyy!!!!!!!!” (at 9pm on a Monday night)

Him “Want me to make you something sweetie?”

Me “I don’t know what I want, but I’m sooooo HUUUUUUNgryyyyyyyy.  Maybe hashbrowns?”

Him “Ok, I’ll run to the store and buy a potato.”

Me “NO!  That will take too long, I’m hungry NOW!”

Him “Well, do you want me to take you somewhere?”

Me “Ok.  IHop is around the corner.  Let’s go.”

He also brought me breakfast in bed since I had slept to 11am one particular Sunday morning…

Him “Hey babe, I made you brunch.  It’s breakfast AND lunch instead of breakfast FOR lunch since I didn’t know which one you’d want.”

Me “Awwww, thanks hun!”

Him “There’s cheese in the scrambled eggs just like you like, and I also made a grilled cheese sandwich in case you want lunch, but either way you get your cheese.  Also, I know you can’t have wine right now, so I thought chocolate milk in a wine glass would be ok.”

Me … unintelligble mumbling as I shoveled food into my hungry face…

I had a terrible cold a few weeks ago (still getting over the cough… ugh) and he brought me some soup at work to have for lunch.  Just before he got up to leave, he said “I know you don’t feel good, but you look beautiful” and it was hard for him to keep a straight face as he uttered those words.  I replied, “You’re a bad, bad liar, but I really appreciate the effort right now.”

I don’t know what I did to deserve him, but he’s been amazing!

The man at the checkout for the little snack kiosk in the lobby of my office building says “Hello good looking!” to me every day. I’m like, “I don’t feel so hot right now, but if you say so!”

Ooooh I used to love the “you are all belly” comment! That’s really one of the best πŸ™‚

I also appreciated “you make such a cute pregnant woman”, which I feel is in the same vein.

Ahaha great suggestions. πŸ™‚ I’ll take any compliments right now as I feel like crap, haha. It is nice to know people don’t think I look like crap too! πŸ˜‰

I would most like to hear:

“Let me run out and get you some ice cream.”

“Surprise! I hired someone to clean our apartment.”

“Wow, morning sickness sounds unbearably difficult. I don’t know how you’re managing it on top of work and everything else. You are amazing.”

I also like the “Where are you registered?” line… πŸ™‚

Do not say:

“At least you aren’t hospitalized like Kate Middleton!” — yes, thank goodness. But unless you are currently pregnant and vomiting daily, I don’t want to hear anything but pure sympathy from you.

“HOW much weight have you gained?!?! omg!” — my coworker said this to someone else at the office who was pregnant, and it bugged me then. I’m bracing myself for her comments!

I just love it when people tell me that I’m looking well. Ya know… I FEEL well, and happy, it’s nice to be called up on it. πŸ™‚

Some of the nicest comments have been what a great mum I’ll make – those were heart warming.

Also, I like it when people with kids highlight the positive and wonderful things about having children instead of telling you horror stories and warning you of how hard it was for them and how you will have to go through sleep deprivation or how terrible birth was for them, blah blah blah..

I worked at a maternity store for a long time.. honestly, when I would tell a lady that she looked great, I meant it. Just so you all know. πŸ™‚

You are GLOWING!

That top looks unbelievable on you.. and your belly looks great!
