Haha, this actually happened to me once.  But the weddings were only like 45 minutes apart so I was able to attend both.

@outgoingcutie15:  That happened to me. One wedding was a several hour flight from where I lived, but I was a bridesmaid for it and I was fairly close friends with the bride. The other was also a several hour flight, but it was in my hometown and it would have been nice to see family and friends.

In the end, I chose to go to the first wedding. I knew about it way further in advance and I had an obligation to the bride.

I’d go to whomever I was closest to. If one was a good friend of mine (or family) and the other was friend/family of my Darling Husband, we would split up and go to the respective weddings.

There are a lot of factors to consider.  Friends or family?  Wedding is close by or you would have to travel?  Have you already RSVP’d to one and just received an invitation for the second?  Etc….

If you haven’t even received an invitation for either one yet, I would wait until you receive the actual invitations (unless it’s your sister or someone else you know you’re definitely getting an invitation from.)

Write down a list of the pro’s and con’s of attending each wedding as well as missing the other wedding.  If you’re still not sure then go to the one you receive an invitation for first, that way if anybody asks it comes down to invitation etiquette; first invitation equals first acceptance.

This is happening to me and my parents this year! We are attending the wedding of the person we are closer to. It’s unfortunate but it is what it is. They are several states apart so there’s no doing both.

@outgoingcutie15:  yupp. one was FI’s friend and one was my friend. we got invited to my friend’s really late, so we figured we were B-list. AND we had already verbally decided between the two of us to go to his friend’s wedding, so we RSVP’d and went to that one.

Haha we weren’t torn exactly…but my best friend from high school got married on the same day as us.  We were a bit torn about one mutual friend, but she didn’t end up attending either…so in a very selfish way it made me feel better about it all.
