After seeing another post about how mermaids might not look good on “rectangular” shaped bodies, it got me curious as to what everyone’s experiences were.
im very tiny but average height. My measurements are 32-23-33.
I love mermaids but when I tried on one, I felt like it swallowed me whole. Plus I couldn’t sit in it!
I love the ballgowns on me but still felt swallowed up.
I eventually settled on a sheath dress with crinoline for more pouf!

I am 37-29-38 and I ended up with a fit and flare!

I’m 34-28-37. My hips are killin’ me! But I’m also 5’1. Still on the hunt for a dress. 😜

Average height and measurements are 34-25-35. I wore a ballgown and a mermaid.

I’m 5’5″ and measure 34-25-37 and I went with a sheath dress, but its got some shape in the booty and below.

My measurements sound great…. until I tell you I’m only abt 5’3″. They’re 36-24-36 (as per Sir Mix-a-lots “I like big butts and i cannot lie…”). I went for an a-line sheath which I wasn’t expecting, although I didn’t have any real image in mind.

I’m 5’5 3/4″….35-29-41…My Fiance is obsessed with my ass so I decided to get a dress that accentuates it lol

I think I’m 35-28-45 But I’m only 5’2″. I went with a fit and flare Style dress. I knew I wanted something form fitting and with my height, I thought anything that wasn’t tight on me, like a ballgown, would eat me up.

40-33-40 When I purchased the dress. 5’6″ Hoping a little less by the time of the wedding! Mermaidish (or is it a fit and flare, what’s the diff?), lace, lots of “structure” so it’s very flattering for my curves.
Don’t listen to anyone who says what you can and can’t wear, just try on everything you want to until you find the one that makes you feel the things.

5’5 1/2″ 38-29-40
I went with a fit n’ flare that is almost a mermaid. I tried on various types of dresses but felt the most womanly in this type.

5″7, 37-27-40 (when I bought it but now I’ve lost some weight, so now I don’t know) and I’ve got a trumpet dress.

- Wedding: April 2016 - Athol Hall, Mosman
5’0″, 47-40-52 (or 53?). In any case, I’m a huge pear and I looked fly in fit and flares but ended up with a ball gown, lol.

I’m 5’7″ and 39-33-44 and had a princess style gown. Or rather it ended up being a princess style gown because for some reason my bridal shop decided to order in my dress two sizes too big so the gorgeous a-line dress I purchased suddenly became a princess gown due to all of the extra fabric on the skirt + petticoat (even when the top part had been taken in!!)

I’m 5’5″ 34/27/39 but i look more like an hourglass rather than a pear shape. However my butt is big and round and my Fiance is obsessed with it. So i bought a mermaid dress with a very large ruffle skirt, tight bodice and illusion back.

I’m 5’3″ 34,23,34.5 and I wore a sheath. I usually wear this style of dress, so I didn’t consider any other silhouettes, as I think sheaths are the most flattering on me.
