I currently have the Mirena IUD.

I was on the pill for many years and was TERRIBLE about remembering to take it. I switched over to depo for about 5 years and really loved it. I got my shot at planned parenthood so appointments were super easy to schedule and it was quick and easy to get done. However, this fall I started bleeding for weeks on end near the end of my shot’s cycle. After not having any kind of period for years I was NOT cool with the constant bleeidng.

After lots of research I had the Mirena inserted on Friday. I was having panic attacks in the waiting room because I was SO nervous about insertion after all the horror stories I heard online. I took 800mg of Ibuprofen before my appointment, as directed by the dr’s office. Insertion was pretty quick and not NEARLY as painful as people describe!! And this is coming from someone who used to cry during pap smears. Measuring the uterus was uncomfortable but very quick. After that was finished the PA told me the worst of it was over and I was like seriously?? I was crampy on and off for the next couple days but nothing horrible. Honestly it was worse if I sat or laid down. When I was up and moving it was fine.

@PrincessBride27:  Pull and pray all the way. Have a rough idea of ovulation, so if we remember we use condoms when I ovulate

BC pills and condoms, but my doctor would love for me to switch to an IUD.  She believes that the pill is making my blood pressure go up.  I think it’s just been elevated when I’ve been in for appointments because I always get stressed at the doctor.
