Kings Charles have a bit of a dubious, and unfortunate history. I think the odds on favourite is that Charles would take the name George. I think William would take William.
Of course, I do not think either of these men will ever be crowned, as I assume Her Majesty will live forever. It is, of course, treason to envision the death of the Queen.

I think Charles would take Philip – it’s his first “middle” name and his father’s name – or just stay Charles.
William would definitely stay William.
But I agree, the Queen will live forever so it won’t be an issue.

@mepayne: But Phillip is not a name in the royal line, and the King Phillip II of Spain worked tirelessly to overthrow the English throne and install a Catholic. I can’t see Phillip being his choice.
Of course, I could not, and do not, imagine the death of our reigning Sovereign, so it will never come up.

@Duncan: Oh… maybe not Philip then. How has there never been a Philip, though? I must consult my big book of English monarchs. I wonder if Charles would ever take Arthur as his name. It’s one of his middle names, but it hasn’t technically been used before.
However, Her Majesty will continue to reign forever, so this is purely hypothetical.

@mepayne: I think there’s a genial moratorium on Arthur, thigh it matters not as Her Majesty will reign forevere.

@Duncan: US bee here, so please excuse my ignorance… But is it customary for a king/queen to change their name when they get crowned?

I imagine Charles will be Charles III, not very creative, but then I don’t see “King Chuck”, as being the most on-the-ball creative kind of guy to begin with.
(He is by far my least favourite Royal)
His full list of given names are … Charles Philip Arthur George
When he married Lady Di, I somehow thought he’d end up being an Arthur (or a George)
I am guessing that based on History, someone will pressure him to be George VII (the Seventh)
William, I believe will just stick with William (Wills). So he’d be William V (this is also what the Bookies are laying their bets on).
Mind you, I won’t live long enough to see William assend to the throne (unless Chuckie abdicates… which is unlikely)
And as for Charles, as the longest waiting Monarch… quite frankly I think he can wait a whole lot longer…
“Send Her Victorious, Happy & Glorious, Long to Reign Over Us. God Save The Queen”
Long Live The Queen !!!
EDIT TO ADD – The Queen is from hearty stock… look at the Queen Mom lived to be 101+. HRH ER-II is 87 she could live a long time yet

@sunshine_kar: They may use any of their given names for sure – I’d have to double check if they can pick any name, like a new pope. Most use their first given name.
Of course, it doesn’t matter as Queen Elizabeth II will not die, and I could not, and do not imagine the death of the Queen. 😛

I think he’ll be King Charles. It seems to me that choosing a different name is a rather antiquated tradition while sticking with your actual name is more down to earth and modern; and I think Charles would prefer to be seen as down to earth and modern.

@This Time Round: Of course you do not suggest that you imagine the death of her Majesty? 😛

For shags sake the old bat will die eventually lol Not much odds about them anyways they are just for show, but I’d figure Charles or George. He kinda look like a george.
