I’ve found that a litte bit each day works best. If you make it a marathon day, then you tend to procrastinate and want to do other things instead.

I am a horrible housekeeper. I warn everybody. I will cook, wash dishes and do laundry. I will scoop and maintain litter boxes. I have gone 15 years without cleaning my oven. I dust my house once a year whether it needs it or not. I LOVE a clean house, I just hate being the one to do it! I sometimes hire a student who desperately needs money to come clean my house.

I thought about trying to designate Saturdays, but that was a pain. So then we tried cleaning a bit each day. It’s really difficult to be motivated to do the dishes when you both work all day, have school, and have to lug everything to the coin laundry. We clean probably 2-4 days a week, but Darling Husband is WAY better at it than I am. I get grossed out by the bathroom, so I never touch it. And the dishes… I’ll only clean them if Darling Husband actually rinses the gunk off. If he leaves milk or dinner on the plate overnight, I won’t touch it until I’ve soaked it in scalding water. Organizing though… THAT’s my thing. I could spend my whole life organizing and making lists. Darling Husband hates that.

I try and clean during the week, but my work schedule varies so much I can’t set a cleaning day and stick to it.  I used to clean on the weekends, but ever since my SO moved a couple hours away, I would much rather spend my weekend time with him than cleaning my house!

I like kangaroos quite a bit.  They are cheeky, and bouncy, and quite adorable, and I once heard a story where…

…as you can tell, I get easily distracted.  I aim to clean mostly on the weekends, but usually get sidetracked on Saturdays and end up doing everything in a rush before bedtime on Sunday night.  But from now on, I think kangaroos might be my new scapegoat. Tongue Out

I usually do most of my housework on a Saturday while Darling Husband is at golf but I try to do a wee bit each day during the week too.

I pick up clutter and vacuum everyday! I do laundry one-three times a week, just depends. I do dishes when the sink Gets full oops! Lol I dust when I notice it. Sweep about once a week.

@shrinkingviolet: Hehe. I should look for one of those. 😉 But only if it’s in Kangaroo print, I should think.

I clean…whenever it looks too dirty and/or we have company coming over. Otherwise it’s a daily “Pick up after yourself” kind of thing. Sometimes it’ll get way messy, like over holidays or when SO is home more (dirty dirty man) and I’ll have to do more. Our “work outside” day is always Sunday though bc that’s his only day off.

I should add that I despise carpet. Particularly beige carpet. Beige carpet + two adorable but shedding-prone black doggies = Yell Angry AmeliaBedelia.

@Sweet.Sugar.Rose: You vacuum EVERY DAY? Good grief. I think my dogs would laugh and snicker at me. “Silly silly woman, we’re just going to shed more.”

@KT808: “I dust my house once a year whether it needs it or not.”

    Love it.

Laundry I do regularly otherwise our floor starts growing a second layer- like now for example- our dryer is broken and there is no more room in the dirty clothes hamper. Probably…once every 3-4 days?

    Dusting- what?

Vacuuming- Try to do every week, but no promises.

    Bathroom- every week

    Kitchen- clean as we go.

Every other day I try to pick up various items that have left where they belong.
