They tried to polish some part of the central air conditoning system to make it look newer and broke it as a result. We didn’t realize until a month later, which is how long it took all the freon to leak out and leave us in 100 degrees without AC. That was a fun expense to pay shortly after closing on a house… only $3500 :/. Also, lots of tools.

Wow…I can’t top yours!

We didn’t find much–an Arab-language soccer manual and a baby plaything. And teenager-writing on the inside walls of one of the closets reading: “B + M” and “Mrs. Mike Ashley” and stuff 🙂

Our previous owners (rather awesomely) left us a 9′ Christmas tree. And custom hurricane shutters, which are pretty much worth their weight in gold.

After tearing down a wall in a house I lived in with my family many years ago, we found a very old newspaper inside the wall. It was an interestinf find because not only we were able to date the last time that wall was opened or built, but we got lots of cool info off the newspaper. Brand new cars were like $2500 if I remember correctly.

no surprises in mine… cept broken water pipes… which we figured would be there since we bought a forclosure that was not winterized until springtime (smart i know) lol.

the previous owners actually removed everything… and i mean everything… no cabinets. no vent covers. no light fixtures… i guess they were pissed they got forclosed on 🙁

We also found some sort of glass pipe in the cupboard!  …But no midget she-male porn, thank goodness haha.  The previous tenant still rents out our backyard for his garden business too, and while a certain plant isn’t growing in the greenhouse, pretty sure it’s being used in there LoL.

wow, that is quite a find!  our old home owners left us nothing that interesting, but some useful stuff… cleaners, wood stains, left over paint he’d used for the house, and other random household hardware and utility type stuff.

we found a bunch of empty DVD cases (like 100s), empty CD cases, and a huge duffel bag full of random sized TShirts (toddler through adult) with some chinese womens liberal band name (I googled it). Totally freakin weird. They left a lot of stuff actually but those were the ones that I was totally confused about.

Our house was a shortsale so we had ALL kinds of surprising things left behind. Found a brand new designer couch with tags still attached, 3 pieces of brand new work out equipment, lots of boxes of fine china/cutlery from the previous owners that had never even been opened. The list goes on and on.

We joked that maybe that’s why their house had to be a shortsale in the first place because they kept buying really expensive things they didn’t need.

Our first place together, the previous tenant left behind a heap of books, including The Joy of Sex.

Our first house we bought, the people left us a goldfish.

Our house we live in now, that we bought, the previous owner left behind a bunch of candles all stuck in with blu-tak into the linen press. We kind of freaked out because our house is also right next door to an old ceremony and we wondered if they did some sort of rituals with them. We took them down, and so far nothing has happened in the last 7 years.

Those fizzy denture cleaning tablets in the medicine cabinet.
