I’m loving following the other thread about what is an ‘average’ house for everyone’s area, and I’m constantly surprised by the differences in area. Please (if you’re interested too) show what you could buy for $200,000 near where you live!

Our home. 4 bed, 2.5 bath, 2650sq ft with a small yard in a nice neighborhood in a good school district.

@priyawouldntwannabeya: There are no listings for anything at that price where I live. $200,000 will not let you enter the market in Vancouver.

For Victoria proper, you’re looking at a 1-bedroom condo, maybe 2 bedroom if it’s an older building. Further out, in Colwood and Langford, you might be able to get a townhouse.

$199,900 gets you this adorable house. 3BR/1.5BA, 1250 sq ft.
However, as cute as it is, it’s a really sketchy part of town. It’s been on the market for almost a year because of the location.
Other $200k options in my area are 1-2BR decent apartments/condos and houses in the ghetto.

In my area (Boston) you could get a great parking space for $200k.

I live in northeast Iowa and this lovely house is on the market for 199,000.

Where we used to live $200k would get us a 762 sq ft 1bed/1bath coop in this building.
Where we live now $200k will get us a 2,000 sq ft 4bed/2.5bath house.
I am so happy we moved.

You can get a 1BR 1BA condo, 600sqft for $199,000. In a BAD area.

@priyawouldntwannabeya: I live in Toronto, and $200,000 doesn’t buy anything. NOTHING. Maybe if you are lucky you will get a 450 sq. ft. condo or something – but only if there’s something wrong/undesireable about it.

195k. 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath, and it doesnt say it in the description, but it looks like it has a game room also.
