200k would get you a….nice downpayment lol. No homes in that range around me.
My husband and I live in the bay area in California. I’m not sure 200k will even get a condo around here. It is one of the reasons we would like to leave the state! But gosh, we have a great group of friends. It would be hard leaving them. Portland area is what we are considering.
OMG, these threads always make me want to move to the midwest.
In my general neighborhood (part of Boston proper but not downtown), there is ONE listing for $200k, 1br, 1bath condo that is 500 square feet. Looking at a broader area… there is literally nothing for so little money.
A 2 bedroom condo in an old building.
I live in a nice part of Brooklyn, and I was surprised to find that there are actually a few things you could buy here for that price! For instance you could get a 630ft, 1bd, 1br condo in this building. The downside is it’s on the first floor, which isn’t very safe in NYC.
Omaha Nebraska: Looking like the average for 200K is 4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, 3000 square feet, and a good chunk of yard.
These are both 195K. The bottom one is 4 Bedrooms and 4 bathrooms! It’s gorgeous and I am wishing I were in the market right now!!
Anchorage, AK here. A condo or townhouse. Likely 2 bedrooms, under 1000 sq ft, and a carport if you’re lucky.
For 200k you can’t even enter the market where I live outside of Toronto. Toronto is worse you need ay least 600k. For young people just entering the housing market it’s very overwhelming!
This one is 199,531. 4 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms. It is located in a nicer part of town but could use some landscaping help and maybe a re-paved driveway. 2,545 sqft. It comes with stainless steel appliances. I don’t have HGTV right now, so I don’t know if everyone wants stainless steel still. 🙂 Missouri college town.
Ooohhhh yeah. No such thing as a single family home for $200k in the Washington DC area where I live (Northern VA). However, this 1 bedroom 1 bath condo is available in Falls Church for $199,950 after a recent $10k cut! 956 square feet, actually somewhat large for a 1bedroom 1 bath here:
…I don’t think you can even get a home in my neighborhood for that cheap. Not even a studio. I’m thinking that money might buy you someone’s parking space?
