I work in a school, so we get a lot of stupid names.

YourMajesty was one

Tequila

Chardonnay

and then Alicia Silverstone’s child…Bear Blue…however you spell it…it doesn’t matter…it’s dumb.

@DeadlyNightshade:  No, they’re from Louisville, Kentucky, their whole family is as well.

Another little boy was nicknamed “Poopy”. Seriously, his whole family called him that and he was 4 or 5.

@SunnyBunny:  Interesting.  Both are actually fairly normal African names, that’s why I thought maybe there was some heritage there.

I used to work with a girl who named her daughter Bone-Queesha Tushaiya (bone, pronounced like dog bone). She called her “Tushy” for short.

I wanted to add another one here. Someone DH and I know named their child Corbin Dallas. I can understand part of that, but not the whole name. But  I guess they are huge 5th element fans…lol

@mirandabride:  have you watched american idol this season? phillip phillips! i might have it spelled wrong, but, yeah, REALLY?

At my job, I’ve had phone calls from Tommy Thompson, Dick (Richard) Dixon and Richard Richardson.  I had someone call me about a customer who’s name was Nicholas Nichols.  I don’t get why people do that to their kids, but whatever.

I knew a guy named J growing up. It wasn’t short for anything, no period, it was pronounced like the name “Jay”.  His mom was inspired by how the “S” in Harry S Truman didn’t stand for anything.  He got a lot of confusing stares from teachers on the first day of school as he explained it every year.

@SunnyBunny:  My mother had a teacher at her school with the last name Hennessey.  A parent came in for a conference because she thought her child was lying about the teacher’s name.  When she found out that it was her “for real last name” (in her words)…she told the teacher “well, I got a bottle of you on my kitchen counter”
