Hi Bees, so I wrote another post about having my wedding on a Thursday, we have to choices of either having it from 6-12 or from 7-1 which is our current choice, but I was wondering, should we change it to start at 6pm? The ceremony would start 30 minutes before the chosen time since it will be at the same place as the reception. Tell me what you think please, I would really appreciate it!

i think 7-1 should be fine 🙂

6 is too early on a Thursday for most people to get home from work, change and get ready for a wedding, especially if the ceremony is actually at 5:30. I’d have to take a half day off of work to make a 5:30 ceremony since I commute an hour, it would take me at least an hour to get ready, it would take time to drive to the ceremony location during rush hour, and I would want to arrive a half hour early. I don’t know how many folks you’ll get staying until 1 though, unless they plan to take the next day off of work?

I would do 7-1. If it was 6-12 I might have to take the day off work to go to the wedding (depending where your wedding is, I might have to compete with rush hour home, getting ready, rush hour to the venue, etc), while if it was 7-1 I could probably make it on time since that extra hour would help.

If it started at 7 I would have enough time to get there after work, but I wouldn’t be staying until 1am. I would probably stay until 11 or so, depending on how long it took me to get home.

@takemyhand: Couldn’t have said it better myself!

I voted 6 before I read that the ceremony would start 30 mins earlier–def 7 in that case! most people I know work until at least 5:30, so starting then would be tight. If I were a guest I would leave before 1am though…

Thank you so much ladies for your responses! At 7 it will be then, I know many wont stay until 1, and thats fine, I think by that time the only people left will be my aunts and uncles who like to get drunk lol
