@yearns4god: I actually call my husband “B” which evolved in the following way:
My mom refered to him as “Boyface”, then I started calling him “B-face”, which turned into “BF” and is now “B”…but my dad calls him “boy”, or sometimes by his last name. No one actually calls him Chris.

Mike, but only his immediate family calls him Michael and it just sounds weird when I hear it. He prefers Mike and goes by Mike everywhere, yet they still call him Michael.
@jillmatt: My Mike is the same. I only call him Michael to tease him after we have been around his family.

My Fiance is Mario but his friends call him Ma, which slightly freaks me out because everytime I hear them call him that I think of the Charles Branson/Bronson Missouri epsiode of The Simpsons where everyone in the the town are various versions of Charles Branson and the one little boy calls his mother “Ma”.
I also think of Super mario brothers, but thankfully he isn’t a short, chubby Italian plumber with a mustache,
ETA: Here is the little boy I picture in my head haha
