(Closed) Spinoff – Would you decline a proposal if you didn't like the ring?

  • poll: Would you decline a proposal because of the ring?

I would decline if I hated the style

I would decline if the ring was smaller than the size I wanted

I would decline if the ring was less than half the size I wanted

I have declined a proposal because I didn't like the ring

I would never decline a proposal because of the ring

I would decline a proposal if there was no ring

I would decline a proposal if the ring was too cheap

I would decline a proposal if the ring was a simulant

I would accept but upgrade the ring ASAP

No way would I refuse! He will pick aa ring for me, and that’s special!
I may have to change it, or stop wearing it after the wedding if it really doesn’t suit my style. But size doesn’t matter!

I’d never decline a proposal because of the ring. But then again, I am from a country where usually men propose without a ring. Also the engagement ring is usually just a plain band, the wedding ring is the more expensive and fancier one.

IMO if it’s from the right person, it doesn’t matter about the ring or it’s size! So I would never decline a proposal because of the ring!

@aliciaspinnet:  No no no no….if DH proposed without a ring, I would have accepted. Getting engaged is not about the damn ring. Getting a nice ring is an added bonus. Did DH ask me what I like? Yes, but I never told him that the ring should have these specs…like wtf? And I know there are women out there who wouldnt accept a propisal unless the ring met their requirementd and thats sad, superficial, and ungrateful. I am also against upgrading bc I am very big on sentimental value. Sure, you will get a better ring but its not the same bc its not the one he proposed with.

I’m actually surprised that some people have voted that they would decline for whatever reason. Wow.

The only reason to decline a proposal IMO is if it’s the wrong person proposing, but then again I’m not a jewelry person so rings aren’t a big deal to me.

Dude, I bought my own ring.  Why all this waiting around for the guy to get off his haunches and propose?  I’m not a prize to be won – or purchased.  I bought a ring, we sat down and had a conversation, agreed we were engaged, bought a ring for him, his ring arrived, my ring arrived a few weeks later.  Easy peasy.
