When you have to explain  these things to your little  11 year old cousins…..

1.that  years ago people used to put a kettle on the stove and it actually used to whistle!!!!!

2.What a VCR is!!!!

3.What a record player is!!!

4.What old fashioned light bulbs look like!!!

and when you tell them about these old fashioned ‘things’…..they look at you like your crazy and an old FART to boot!!!

When you’re out shopping and you point out a cute dress and they 20 year old beside you says “OMG. That’s such a mom dress! I mean, you shouldn’t even consider wearing that unless you’re atleast (insert age 1 year younger than yourself)”. *sigh*

Went through major financial struggle and stress to own a walkman and was damn PROUD of it. Embarassed

RENTING VHS from Blockbuster. And sometimes paying $2 for not rewinding cuz it says on the tape to “be kind, rewind. (in fine print:) $2 charge.”

That feeling that I will NEVER get old. And waiting super anxiously for every single birthday. Not particularly interested or worried abt paying bills.

Spending summer days when school was out for summer break playing outside or laying in the grass just watching the day go by slowwwwwwwwwly. Instead of doing constant status updates on Facebook and Twitter.

Student ‘tokens’ were different from adult tokens for the bus. AND tokens were ‘not that old’.

BIG, BULKY, HEAVY brick like cell phones were the newest in thing and THE BEST technology around.

Market was saturated with pagers. Hello, pagers anyone? ‘143’ code word!?

Rewinding/fixing tape with pencils. Yep.

Stirrup pants. Yep.

When you watch Gossip Girl – and fancy Rufus instead of Dan or Nate.
When you realise you’ve grown out of reading Cosmopolitan.
You smile and say “Thanks, you’ve made me day!” when someone IDs you.
You don’t like any of the music in the charts. Or know what it is.

This thread is just brilliant!!!

when you can’t understand a group of tennagers when they walk by

when you look forward to going to Bunnings (hardware/garden/home renovation shop on the weekend!

when the 21 year old work experince kid doesn’t know what a fax machine is……. or can’t remember a time without a mobile phone…….. or that cars did used to not have air conditioning!

agree to all of the other PP’s and OP’s lines and I catch myself saying when I was your age or in my day – so sad lol!

When all your CDs are of bands from last century. In fact, when you get your music from CDs at all!

@StaceyMay81:  Haha!

Definitely with you on Mapquest, I don’t trust the GPS on my phone because I always think it’s going to mess up, and I’m scared I’m going to lose signal and get lost!  And I used to be the girl that never missed a party, couldn’t imagine staying in on the weekend, now my favorite thing in the world is staying in on Saturday night with SO, making homemade pizza, sharing a bottle of wine (sometimes), watching a great movie and snuggling with our puppy.  Can’t think of anything better!  A few more:

I’ve actually caught myself saying “kids these days” ending in the following ways:

-have no respect

-don’t know how to have conversations outside of texting and Facebook

-are spoiled and need to be taught manners

-need to stop staying in video chatting, playing video games, etc….and get their butts outside.  Definitely along the lines of the stuff my mom said while I was growing up!

Also,

-More often than not, my knees crack when I do squats…yet another perk of being in my 30’s 🙂

-I worry about the clothes I like or wear sometimes being “too young”–that thought never crossed my mind until this year, ugh.

-Very picky about my skincare regimine-anti-wrinkle serum, anti-aging moisturizer with at least an SPF of 15…used to just grab whatever was on sale!

three things happen when you get old.

First, your memory starts to go.

Then, …. uh …
