@StaceyMay81:  Ah ha ha ha!! We must be twins.

I’ll add when you start complaining that the teenagers play their music too loud past 11:00PM.

When reciting the theme tune to Fresh Prince of Bel Air is no longer considered cool.

When you’re quite pleased to have only found 3 new grey hairs.

When you have a favourite washing up liquid, and discuss the pros with your friends.

When you actually start sharing cleaning tips with your friends over a cup of tea and consider this to have been a great girly evening and genuinely cannot wait until the next time.

You look at shoes that you would have gone crazy for in the past and think “how can anyone wear those”  They’d break their neck walknig in them!”

When you mutter the words “In my day….” followed by a whinge on young people these days.

When you can fall asleep sitting up on the sofa with your hands on your lap.

So, I still honestly feel like I’m “never gonna get old” and I still stay up all night.

But everything else in this thread…OMG painful! I especially tend to keep thinking that 10 years ago, it was 1992. I mean that’s just reasonable. 20 years ago would be ridiculous.

Also, hipsters. I feel like most trends die down faster than that one. It just seems to keep going. And I’m too old to have liked it when it started, so now that it’s still kicking years later, it’s really getting on my nerves. I feel like I should take out my teeth, raise a fist from my walker and yell, “Shave yer face, you dirty hip(ster)s!”

@joya_aspera:  I know what you mean about 1992 – I still consider The Last of The Mohicans to be a relatively new movie, along with Braveheart and Philadelphia… sigh…

You teach university level students and they were all born in the mid nineties, don’t know that movies had intermissions, haven’t seen anything in black and white, don’t realize that they are currently dressing like it was the 80’s/90’s and think its a new trend, don’t know what a number 2 pencil is, don’t know about Bush Sr. and believe W. was the first evil mf from that family, gah. this is getting depressing. sigh.

You know you’re getting old when you have RA(Rheumatoid Arthritis) which is autoimmune, and your friends are starting to get arthritis from old injuries and think they can relate. Uhg no you really cant relate your knee hurts, all my joints hurt and I feel like I have the flu 24-7 when it acts up.

@Cariad:  ahaaaa I love the Fresh Prince thing.  And about a year ago I slipped in an Austin Powers joke and my friend told me it wasn’t cool anymore.  I died a little inside 🙁

Totally stuck in the ’90s.  I think half our playlist is 90’s music 🙂  As pp mentioned I listen to ’90’s music more than anything on the radio today.

I agree with all of these! Brilliant thread! I have a few more though…

When your 9 year old nephew has a newer Iphone than you do….

When comfort is more important that cuteness when buying shoes (and clothes in general)…

When teenagers wear make up that makes them look like drag queens to you, but it’s apparently the latest “look”.

When food your mum used to eat is no longer gross..it’s actually rather tasty… Carrott juice anyone?

When 9am on a Saturday morning is considered a “lie in”.

These are too funny, I can relate to almost all of them!!  I wanted to add a couple:

When you freak out by the year on the “must be born by date” at the store for alcohol and cigarettes.

If you know what a hypercolor shirt is.

Oh man, I had a wow I’m that old moment the other day. I was on the phone with my boss and my best friend was standing near me shouting over me (totally cool though cause my boss loves us both). She said something about Betty and I added oh yeah, betty and veronica and archie. My boss started laughing and my friend just gave me this look of who is veronica and archie? My boss was like bet that makes you feel old.

I loved the archie comics, and I know they still are around. But I guess that shows the 7 year age difference between my friend and I. haha and I sure do feel old now.

When you look at a magazine and one of your favourite actors which you always looked at as hot etc…(Brad Pitt) is now turning 50.
