I’m another “it depends” answer. Also, I just blew my DH’s mind when I told him even murder was negotiable (no random killings, might be okay with Dexter-esque motives).

I have turned a now ex-boyfriend to the police (while we were dating) for making a bomb threat. We stayed together after that.

I found out two different exboyfriends abused a child. They were both already in trouble with the law for it (nothing for me to report) and we broke up immediately.

Current DH? I would immediately turn him in for any sexual crimes. Cold-blooded murder or a spree/serial/mass killing I would also turn him in. An accident or manslaughter I would most likely urge him to turn himself in after we get a good lawyer.

Drugs, taxes, robbery…. I probably wouldn’t do anything. Divorce, maybe, because if he did those things he isn’t the person I thought I married, but I don’t think I could call the cops on him for it.

@joya_aspera:  I am agreeing with you all over the place today!

Rape, paedophilia etc – his arse is going to prison. Murder would STRONGLY depend on the circumstances – I would not report him for committing murder to save his life or my own, for instance.

Assault, again, it depends. If he robbed and beat up an old lady or king-hit someone for no reason, yep, I’d report it. If someone punched him in the head on the football field and he retaliated, I’d be right behind him swinging my fists too.

I’d leave him for drug dealing, but would I turn him in? Probably not. Tax evasion – no I would not turn him in for this either, but depending on the extent of it I might not be sticking around.

Everything else – rape, murder, child molestation, robbery etc, hell yes I would turn him in. If he killed someone in self defense or if it was an accident than honestly I would still turn him in or convince him to turn himself in – who wants to live with wondering if/when someone is going to catch you? If it was legitmately an accident or self defense then I wouldn’t be too worried about the consequences, as opposed to the consequences and how it would look of covering it up.

If it was something in the past then it would depend. Murder, rape, molestation – still turning him in. Drug dealing? No, not if he has turned his life around.

@HisMoon:  Dexter-esque motives, hahaha. Okay, okay if my Fiance was killing criminals for the greater good of society and he was skilled enough to cover up any evidence every.single.time then I might let it slide 😉
