I think that is an awesome idea!!! I have a two year old but am thinking about TTC so it would be nice to go into the different sections!!!

I think it would a a good idea except for the fact that then it starts to become a parenting board and that isn’t quite what Wedding Bee was created for. I think if it was expanded and given its own sister site like, Baby Bee or something like that it would be better. I definately think expanding it is good but maybe not on the wedding bee boards… It would make more sense to do something similar to what the knot has with The Nest and The Bump. But that would take a TON of work and more money and servers.

I agree, but I think we should start simple.  Maybe babies and TTC.  Or maybe those 2 plus parties.

I think this is also a great idea but I don’t know if the Mr and Mrs Bee are really into starting a baby bee.  They’ve posted about it before and it’s not something that they were actively going after.

Maybe there is someone here that is interested in starting their own site?  I’d love to do something like this but I don’t really know where to start.

I agree with the idea of breaking up the baby board!

Personally, I don’t think we should break it up. I love the babies board and I’m glad it’s here on weddingbee, but this is primarily a wedding site. It’s not a baby site or newlywed site. It’s great that they give us the space to discuss children as it is, but I think giving it more depth further takes away from what the site is supposed to be about.

Okay, no snark here, just wanna play devils advocate for a moment. For everyone that’s not crazy about the idea because it’s not what Wedding Bee is about- what about all the Not Wedding Related sections on the Bee? There are eleven categories under Not Wedding Related. And in Nesting, there are three others (besides the babies board). All of the above are not related to weddings.

I believe that those that are in favor of the idea, as well as myself, simply would like more sub categories with the babies section, all under the Nesting umbrella. Please correct me if I’m wrong on this.

yes, but, in my opinion, the Not Wedding Related category is still more inclusive to everyone. Yes the baby boards are open to everyone, but I feel the target audience is smaller and it’s not the focus of the website. My feeling on Not Wedding Related is that the ladies on here are going to have a life outside of wedding planning (I would hope!) so that board is still geared towards serving the wedding planning audience, it just lets them talk about things other than wedding planning. I hope I’m making sense. I’m not trying to say this idea is stupid, I’m just trying to give insight to the other side of the spectrum. There are many, many folks on here who would like to see the baby board gone with all together. I am NOT one of them by any means, but I can see this further irritating them.

I also feel like there isn’t enough traffic on the baby section to warrant splitting it into smaller categories. The last replied to threads on the first page are already a day old, so if you took those threads and split them, they would be from even longer ago. It’s just personal taste, but I prefer to reply to threads that were active in the last day or so. I know it is similar on the other boards, but I guess in general I’m not a fan of a million subcategories anyway.

Just my opinion. Anyone else agree?

@JoesWifey: You raise valid points, and I can completely see what you’re saying. Who knows, the idea could be nixed altogether, and this would all be a moot discussion anyway. There are lots of ideas that get alot of five star votes that never become implemented. It’ll all come down to what the powers that be decide.

Wow 41 votes and 4 stars, that’s very impressive in just a day!
