Metropolitan Museum of Art

A large art museum which contains art ranging from ancient to modern times from all over the world.

A museum known for its architect, Frank Llyod Wright, the Guggenheim collects art from the mid-19th century to the present from around the world.

The Frick Museum

The Frick Collection includes some of the best-known paintings by the greatest European artists, major works of scupture, eightneenth century French furniture and porcelains, Limoges enamels, Oriental rugs, and other works. The museum building itself is a neoclassical mansion designed by Thomas Hastings for Henry Clay Frick in 1912.

New York  Aquarium

A large aquarium. Everyone likes fish, they don’t bite.

Admissions Information: Adult: $14.95, Seniors (65+): $11.95, Children (3-12): $10.95. Additional tickets required for 4D theatre. Parking is $13.00. Fridays after 3:00pm admission is by pay-what-you-wish-donation.


They aren’t free, but you can spend all day at most of these places. ETA: There is also the Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo, Prospect Park Zoo, and Queens Zoo. My wedding is in NJ so the rest of the stuff I listed is in NJ. Of the museums my favorite is probably the Frick followed by the Met. I like art a lot, which is why there are more museums listed than anything else.

I live in NYC, and NYU is a great area to hang out in (aka the East Village and West Village). There are so many cheap bars and ethnic resstaurants around there. Just walk in any direction. I have a list that I made of things to do for 7 days in NYC (day and night time activities), but it’s on my blog, so I guess message me if you’re interested since we can’t self-promote.
