I just needed to gush about this one more time because I’m so happy. hehe
My lovely FIANCE proposed in a very spontanious way….i.e. he even surprised himself. lol
We had been away from eachother all day and hadn’t had a chance to talk all day. It is really rare for us to go through a whole day without talking at least 3 times over the phone…yup even 6 yrs after we still don’t like to be away from each other. So since we had both been working hard all day and needed a break he suggested we go boating for a couple of hours.
He picked me up from the restaurant I was lending a hand at and we went swimming and then went fishing on the lake. It was a gorgeous night. He wanting to go trolling for Salmon as the sun was setting but I wanted to just cuddle up with him on the back bench of our boat and watch the sunset.
It’s important to mention that usually, because I’ve wanted this proposal for so long, I’d be able to pick up on any kind of romantic ‘perfect-moment-to-propose’, but this time I didn’t! All that was going through my head was being there with him and enjoy this nice sunset on a late summer evening.
Then he started to say really nice things, like how important I am to him and how thankful he is to have me with him. He said that he was scared and that I would have to promise to take care of his heart. (He’s a numbers guy and marriage stats scare him big time. So this meant a lot.) Then he said ‘I hope you’re not mad that I don’t have a ring for you”. And I clued in! Duh! In my head I’m thinking “Omg, he’s proposing! He is really proposing!” Then he asked me if I would be his Wife. At this point I’m in shock and can’t even speak. I’m shaking from head to toe and just nod my head as tears over flow. Then I ask “Really?” He couldn’t speak anymore because now he was all emotional and does the same head nod with tears over flowing. We laughed, kissed and cried until the sun was long gone and the beautiful full moon came out to shine our way back to the boat launch. He kept apologizing for not having a ring. He said he had no intention of asking me that day but he couldn’t pass up the amazing moment we were sharing.
I’m so happy! I can’t wait to marry him. Still don’t have a ring but it’s getting designed so I have to be patient. We went and designed it the following monday.
Thanks for allowing me to share my story.
