New to TTC. I have had spotting from 1 to 7 days before each and every period for years and years, even after I got off birth control 2 years ago. But I didn’t know that this is NOT normal until I started TCC this month and found out it could be due to many reasons some of which sound worse than others…, I will go see my OBGYN for this next month, but in the meantime I would like to hear any success stories of any of you who usually had spotting before periods… were you still able to get pregnant naturally? Please tell me happy stories, I feel like this problem will hinder my chances… feeling kind of depressed now

I had spotting 3-5 days before my period every time. I got pregnant by IUI, not naturally, BUT the doctors said everything was normal- we were diagnosed with unexplained infertility.
When I got pregnant I had no spotting at all.

I spot throughout my cycle, but particularly at ovulation and then during my luteal phase. We conceived naturally twice!

I had spotting in between periods. It turned out I had a small polyp. It was removed, and I got pregnant 2 cycles later. That ended in a miscarriage (unrelated to the surgery). I am now 21 weeks pregnant 🙂
My primary care doc said that the polyp should not impact TTC, but my OBGYN felt differently. If it turns out that is your problem, highly recommend getting it out ASAP! Or maybe you’ll be lucky and it won’t impact you. Good luck!

I had brown spotting about three days before each period. I went to my doctor and got checked for everything. PCOS. Uterine fibroids. Hormones were fine. My doctor said everything was normal and some women just spot.
We just had our baby last month. Conceived naturally at 34. I was so worried too but it worked out. I hope it’s the same outcome for you too! Before this thread I thought I was alone in spotting before periods.

I spot for 2 days before every period, I’ve conceived naturally 3 times. My first I miscarried at 8 weeks, second is my 9 month old son and I’m currently 18 weeks pregnant with my 3rd ☺️ Good luck!

I have always spotted for about 5-7 before periods and like you thought everybody did. When I was younger I quite liked it – they were like warning shots so my period never surprised me.
It took me 2.5 years to get pregnant with my first. Natural conception just before starting IVF. I had soooo many tests done and not once was my spotting given as a reason we weren’t getting pregnant. My LP was 12 days and my progesterone levels were really good. Spotting might not be ‘normal’ but it’s normal for me.
It only took me 6 months to get pregnant with this baby again naturally.
With my first pregnancy I didn’t spot before my BFP but I did after and with this one I spotted like normal but it never progressed to AF. In both I have bleed on and off during the first trimester – again normal for me.
its also important when TTC that you are only half the equation. Although we were diagnosed with unexplained infertility, my husband only has one testicle due to mumps and has alopecia. His sperm analysis was ok but could have been a reason it took us a while

Yep I would usually spot just prior to getting my period, or around ovulation, or both if I was really lucky!
It was a pain but seemed to have no impact for me when ttc. I’m currently 35 weeks pregnant and this was our first attempt, my first cycle off the pill.

Thank you all for telling me some optimistic stories. I ‘m still waiting for AF to show up by Friday… been having spotting since last Friday and feel emotionally drained. TTC is harder than I thought…
Thank you for sharing about your second pregnancy, when I got the spotting again this month, I assumed it means I’m out for this cycle… especially since I got it 5dpo, too early for implantation…

congratulations! Since you got pregnant so fast, any advice?
I feel so much pressure because literally everyone I personally know got pregnant super fast, even if they are older than me… I’m 31

I spot sometimes. Sometimes I’ll go months and be normal, sometimes halfway through the month I start spotting and don’t stop until AF. Not sure why! But I can tell you I just gave birth to a healthy baby a few months ago so it doesn’t seem to have cause too much trouble.

I will make appointment with my OBGYN for next week, or whenever in my cycle she wants me to show up… I want to find out that it’s not a symptom of anything bad.. i hope it’s just like what you have, just the way my cycle is…

I would often spot around ovulation time and/or 1-2 days before my period. I got pregnant the first cycle we tried, at age 35. Due in a couple weeks, eek!
Time to conception is mostly all luck and genetics… but since you asked, definitely temping and knowing right when your 3-4 day fertile window is, and having sex every day or at least every other day during that time, is the best thing you can do! We also used Preseed because I didn’t have a lot of naturally occuring cervical mucus.

I read Taking Charge of Your Fertility, and that really helped me get our timing right. I would say it’s mostly just down to luck though. Best of luck to you!

I had spotting anywhere from 5-7 dpo till my period. Took us 8 timed cycles to conceive. I was off BC for a year. I went to my OBGYN 9 months off BC asking about the spotting and she said it was just my hormones trying to regulate. Not so sure about that. But I did have an ultrasound and everything looked normal. I always felt so defeated when that spotting showed up a week after ovulation. In fact i was convinced i was moving on to cycle 9 when i got my BFP
