To everyone having their showers this weekend: have a blast!

My husband has to go to Taos, NM for work this weekend and I’m tagging along!  Since my low back pain is pretty bad these days, I’m not looking forward to a long flight out west.  I am, however, looking forward to yummy southwestern cuisine and my spa day tomorrow : )

@trugem:  Woo! Can’t wait to read your birth story!

So, I’ve been having a LOT of pelvic and lower back pain. My pelvic pain is mostly in the front of the pubic bones where it separates. Anyway, my yoga instructor recommended I go get myself a yoga/birthing ball to help the pain. HOLY SMOKES! I’m in love with that baby already. I sat on it for maybe 5-10 minutes, just sitting, and my pelvic pain is already noticeably better. Plus, I can take it with me to the hospital and use it during labor. They are apparently your best friend if you’re going natural.

So yeah, if you’re having pain issues… go get one. Mine was super cheap too, only like $13.

@zippylef:  I’ve heard those are signs of early labor 😉 Yeah, I got a ball too and I REALLY want to use it (my midwife suggested it to help me sit up straighter to avoid rib pain), but the hand pump broke the day we got it! boo.

@miss-spunkin:  I know! I’ve also been having a lot of pressure down in my cervix and a ton of BH contractions. I can’t even walk with my legs together anymore. I kind of waddle all bow-legged. ROFL. She needs to wait just a few more weeks though. I’m only 34 and some change. I’m hoping for around St. Patty’s.

@winniewolf:  Sounds like a fun trip!  I flew cross country at 30 weeks.  For me it helped to prop my winter coat behind my low back during the flight.  It really alleviated my back pain and made the entire trip so much more comfortable.

…and speaking of husband’s flying off for trips while we’re in our 3rd trimesters…  How late in your pregnancy are you all comfortable with your husbands leaving town?  DH has to fly to Chicago for work for 3 days when I’m 35 weeks.  I’m not a big fan of the plan, but I told him he had better keep his cell phone on, just in case I call and tell him to hop back on a plane!  He also has regular business trips up to Oregon every couple of weeks, but I think I’m going to ask him to bow out of those after my 37th week.  Is that reasonable?

@skibobrown:  I’ll be 35 next week and DH will be gone all week on business in London. Granted, we live 2 hours from London but still… I can’t say I’m super happy about it, but it’ll be okay. After 37 weeks, you’re a term pregnancy so yeah, I’d say you’re justified in asking him to stay close by.
