My mother is giving me hell for wanting a dark purple, black and silver wedding theme in the spring time. She suggested lavander and silver but I absolutly hate pastel colors. I feel like it’s my wedding, it’s my rules, even though she is footing 80% of the bill. It’s really stressing me out and I feel like i’m being forced into changing my own wedding. Am I being silly? Are my colors really too dark? 🙁

Hehehe I am going against the rules. I am using eggplant/silver in early spring. I am just going to lighten it with flowers in whites and pinks…All spring flowers..:) Your mother might be happy with that….

It’s your wedding. If you want those colors who cares what season it is!

I’m really going against the rules. I am doing a Christmas theme in April with Red, Silver, and White as my colors! Whatever you want to do you should do!

If this is causing huge stress, could you consider changing black into white? Or perhaps just drop black without adding a third colour? Then it becomes a little lighter and perhaps not so irritating to your mum.

@Kimy: I agree with adding light colored flowers!
I wouldnt change it, your day…do what YOU and your fh want!

Mine is in summer and I’m doing black, white, and fushia. The whole room is going to be very dark with black linens and chairs, but I dont care!! It’s what I’ve planned for years and I wanted a summer wedding, so who says I can’t do them together???

Girl, don’t worry about it. I had a pastel-colored wedding in the fall, and no one batted an eye. Go with what you like.

@Mrs. Wallaby: What colour pastel? I love when people venture from the norm..Have you posted any pictures of your special day?

@girlymetalchick: I say, pick the colors that you want. 🙂 I’m also getting married in Spring and my colors are Navy Blue, Dark Purple and Ivory.

@girlymetalchick: A friend of mine had those same colors at her summer wedding. It looked lovely.

Colors for wedding- I really do not understand the reasoning behind that.
I am also having my wedding in the spring and my colors are shades of red.
No one is going to notice :p they will notice how beautiful everything is though.

@girlymetalchick: not too dark at all, I like your colours

@girlymetalchick: I see you are from Long Island, there are some local venues that would look amazing in dark purple, silver and black.
I’m using burgandy, gold and white in May. I’m not much better.
