Hi bees,
I just finished the 30 day squat challenge, starting with 50 squats on Day 1 and ending with 250 squats on Day 30, and the results are crazy!
I’m still in disbelief that, as my Fiance says when he was trying to squish my buns, that now I have “buns of steel.” I couldn’t believe him so I tried it myself, and my buns were so firm, they were difficult to squeeze!
Looking in the mirror, my buns are also more bubble shaped, lol.
I’m not going to stop doing squats. It was difficult to even do 30 at first, but now I can do 200+/day no problem with a rest day in the week.
After warming up, I start with 2 sets of 40 reps, then after that I do 30 each set with 1 min rest in between each set until I reach my target number of squats.
I love the squats because it’s something I can do at home before I hit the gym or when I’m just at home!
Have any of you bees found success with squats? Share!

starrynight898: that’s awesome that you are seeing results! Are you squatting with weights or doing air squats?

Love squats! There is such a variety you can do to work different muscles/work them to different degrees. Glad you had success!

That’s great progress! If you’re still looking for glute specific exercises and feel like branching out from squats, I hear a lot of good things about Strong Curves by Bret Contreras.
Squats are one of my favorite things. Yesterday after a few warm up sets, I superset back squats @ 140lbs till I hit 30 total yesterday. I weigh 120lbs for reference. My goal this year is to hit 240lbs for a one rep max.
Edit — also you totally made me think of this because it is pretty much my life:

Squats totally work!! I was doing them in the few months leading up to the wedding and it definitely made a difference. I used to do them while brushing my teeth, haha. I’ve stopped and you can totally tell π

WestCoastV: Thanks! In the beginning, squats were so difficult for me that I didn’t use any weights. Towards the end of the 30 day challenge, I started holding on to 10lb weight near my chest as I did my squats. Then that became a bit easy, so I’ve been holding the 10lb out in front of me which is more difficult and I’m working my way up from there!.
cewright17: Thanks! I agree, there are so many variations! I started with the easiest of just holding my hands straight out, and now I’m starting to explore the other variations too ^^
wonderlily: Lol I want some cinna buns too!
futuremrsm3: Yes, definitely try it again! It’s soooo worth it! When I don’t go to the gym, I do squats at home. Basically, I just stop what I’m doing, do 30 squats, then go back to what I was doing, then do 30 more, etc…
TaraMay_: Yeah, I love the idea of doing squats and multitasking lol like watching tv! How long did you stop for before seeing a reversion? I don’t want to stop because I don’t want to loose my buns of steel now!

wonderlily: You definitely have to share WHEN you hit that 240lb squat!
Definitely another vote for loading up some weight. I’m a wee bit heavier than wonderlily but there’s little that feels more badass than squatting over 100kg (220lb) in the gym. I’m aiming to get to 145-150kg this year (319-330lb) at under 63kg (139lb). My butt has gone from fat and flat to a show-stopping ass.

But seriously, awesome. I am getting into weights at the gym, but I think I may do this squat challenge awesome. I have always had an ok bum but I want steel and not dough!

MsBeer: +1 for pics lol. But I’m in a fitness group that regularly shares progress pics so I don’t think it’s weird!
SpecialSundae: Yep yep! Hitting 220 at 139 is awesome! My 1RM is about the same in body weight percentage right now. Them CrossFit gainz yo.

wonderlily: My PB is actually 135kg, 100kg is just the weight at which I start feeling badass again in the gym. I don’t do crossfit though; I’m a powerlifter through and through.
