- Wedding: August 2013
I just got married on Sunday at St. Andrew’s United Church. I’m super tired yet I still want to write this review, because of the bad experience I had.
I booked the venue a year ago after my engagement, I met with the minister once, who told me the deposit is $350, and I will email you the wedding planning booklet for you to go through. Because my wedding was so far away, the minister said we will meet 6 months prior to wedding to go over the detail and service together.
At 6 months, I contacted the Church Secretary to schedule an appointment with the church, took 3 weeks for them to respond and all they told me was the minister is busy and will see me only after Easter which is 4 months before my wedding.
Scheduled an appointment for after Easter only to show up at the appointment and no one was at th church. Emailed and left message for the church, and all I got was, sorry I forgot you were coming.
So I attempted to reschedule and they told me, the minister cannot met. A month before the wedding, I still have not met the minister and the church secretary said it is not necessary. Two weeks before my wedding, the wedding coordinator finally contacted me and said she will be doing the rehearsal with us. She was a very nice lady but do not trust their words. She said she worked with the minister for years and knows exactly how the service work. The rehearsal was 2 days before my wedding.
We got everything done and on the day of the wedding. The minister ignored our processional set up, the technician which we paid $325 extra for on top of our $900 rental fee, played the wrong song and my ring bearer didn’t even get a chance to walk down the aisle. The minister could not even read the scriptures from the bible without stuttering and they were the most common love verses in the bible. And the bridal room that they assigned to us, was taken away from us because they were having a meeting and we were thrown into their “storage room”.
The overall experience with this church is horrific. All the staff lack communication. I’m glad none of my guests noticed that everything didn’t go as we plan. But for the bridal team, everyone was nervous and lost because they had no idea what was going on anymore.
For those engaged and are looking for church to get married in if you are not christian or catholic, please do not go to this united church!!!
