Where to begin…..
I am engaged. Engaged like, boy knew I was the one, bought the ring, set up a beautiful proposal, asked the parents, got down on one knee and poured his heart out engaged. I am still having trouble believing this all happened, and happened without me having any idea it was coming. Sure we had had the marriage talk, sure he had asked me what kind of rings I liked, but still, I had no idea it was coming. Even when he went to pick up the bottle of champagne he had reserved at the bar and the woman sitting next to us shrieked, “Are you going to propose!?!?” I still then, did not think it was going to happen. I just figured, hey, he knows I enjoy champagne; we’re just going to go share a romantic moment together. HA! He caught me way off guard. So where and when did all of this take place? Those elements are what make it all so perfect.
St. John USVI. If you are at all interested in traveling to the US Virgin Islands, I highly recommend St. John. It is a lot smaller compared to the USVIs, or at least it feels that way. This is mostly due to the fact the St. John is mostly set up as a wild life refuge. The main town is pretty small, however it has MANY wonderful restaurants and cute boutiques. The snorkeling around the island is out of this world and the beaches are to die for. I can recommend specifics for anyone who is thinking about planning a trip there. My family and I have been traveling to this magical island for almost 10 years. After our first trip we were hooked and bought a time-share. To this day St. John holds a very special place in my heart (well, even more now).

The evening started with my boyfriend fiancé and I heading to our favorite restaurant on the island. This was our second year traveling to the island together and we beyond excited to hit up our favorite Asian fusion hot spot. We ordered a variety of small plates to share and indulged in a couple of the restaurants signature mojitos. Now I can say looking back, he barely ate any of the food. At the time I barely noticed this. I just figured the more for me! After we I stuffed myself till I could barely move, we headed back to our lovely villa. At this point I was exhausted from a long day in the sun and ready to call it a night. He on the other hand, had a very different idea of how the night would end. After much coaxing, he got me to head down to the hotel beach bar to enjoy a little champagne on the beach. I was tickled he wanted to do something so romantic but still had NO idea what was coming. After a little lovey dovey chitchat, kisses and champagne, he made the ultimate gesture. Yup, the one knee. I started crying, hitting him, freaking out, the usual. After I finally accepted we enjoyed a long embrace and began heading back to the villa to tell the rest of the family (they were all there).
Upon our return and announcement (which my parents already knew was coming) there was dancing, toasts, crying and late night e-mails from my Dad to all the people he wanted to tell. Now here we are today. Already trying to figure out dates, numbers, wedding party, venue and all that good stuff. It was the perfect proposal for me. I was beyond happy that he picked a place he knew meant so much to me. I’m so glad the two of us sparked so well and are about to take this amazing/scary journey together.
