We’re going to St. Lucia in October! We’re staying at a Sandals resort though so I’m no help haha. We decided on the resort because we could pay for everything in advance and we get access to the other resorts/bars/pools on the island as well. Maybe look on TripAdvisor or one of those websites to see if anyone has recommendations or reviews about the two places you mentioned?

jaclynhannah1 :  It might be 10k for both of you. No idea where youre coming from, but from Toronto its $5-6k canadian pp.

SB viceroy is actually showing as generally more expensive on my website from TO, and its not adults only.

eta – if you are scratching adults only, what about cap maison?

I am also going to St. Lucia in October and staying at Sandals! I was weird about staying at Sandals too in the beginning, I’m not sure why haha but we ended up doing 7 days at Sandals because it was CHEAP and all inclusive and then we’re splurging for 2 more nights at the resort called Ladera. Look it up, it’s the most incredible thing. It’s expensive and not all inclusive but it’s amazing and I figured since we were saving so much by going to Sandals we could still do a little bit of Ladera which is honestly the whole reason I wanted to go to St. Lucia in the first place.

Good luck on your hunting! Have fun with it!

jaclynhannah1 :  DH and I went to St. Lucia for our honeymoon and loved it! We stayed at Sandals, though. Sugar Beach is beautiful but it was more expensive than we wanted, and their all inclusive didn’t include as much as Sandals. Everything but Sandals was more expensive than we wanted to spend (that and the Royalton resort that has an adult only section – it’s nice too.. Royalton Hideaway I think?)

Ours was right around $5500 for 7 nights. We were happy with Sandals, but we weren’t in love with it. The food was good, but not great. Drinks were great. The staff was all super friendly which was what we liked the most about it. We stayed at the least expensive of the 3 sandals resorts there – La Toc. The Sandals Grande resort is the most expensive of the three, and if we went back to St. Lucia and had to stay at Sandals, we would spend the extra money to go there instead..but at their price point we would probably choose Sugar beach over Sandals.

Since you seem pretty set on St. Lucia, the main reason I’m commenting on this is to tell you you have to go on the Joe Knows tour. It was seriously the most fun we had the whole time we were there. They take you to a volcano to do a volcanic mud bath (which will leave your skin the softest you’ve ever felt it – it completely cured my eczema!), to a waterfall to swim, to Sugar beach for snorkeling, Marigot Bay (where most wealthy people buy houses there), an island Creole style lunch, and the whole boat ride back is a big party with lots of dancing and delicious (but strong) rum punch..the guys that lead the tour are seriously so much fun – they share a lot of their culture and know how to dance and have fun!

futuremrss17 :  I’m staying at La Toc too! We wanted to do the least expensive one since we’re going to Ladera too. And my cousin went to St. Lucia for her honeymoon and she said the same thing about Joe Knows!! Thats one thing that we are definitely doing!

trace107 :  Awesome! You will have a great time!! Defeintely take a waterproof case for your phone or a Go Pro on the Joe Knows tour. Tons of really good photo ops! Sandals will send a photographer with you to take pics, but the pics are pretty pricey.

The one thing we didn’t like about La Toc is the water – the water is really choppy on that side of the island, so the included watersports can’t be done most days – you should take the shuttle to the Grande at least for a day to enjoy their beach – it’s beautiful there! Plus they have these rafts anchored in the ocean that you can lay in, and this cute little double swing in the water ๐Ÿ™‚ (the rafts are what’s in the background)

Also, I would call the resort a couple weeks before your stay and find out if there are any restaurants that have a week long wait list. There were 2 restaurants that we really wanted to go to, but the reservations were booked over a week out.

Oh, and one thing we wish we had done was take a helicopter ride from the airport to the resort. It’s over an hour bus ride if you do the Sandals transport. We did a private car and I got carsick on the way there (even though I haven’t gotten car sick since I was like 8 – its a really windy road). The helicopter ride from the airport is around $140 for 2 people if you do it on the way to the resort – and gets you there in 15 mins (plus obviously really great views) – but if you try to do it on the way back, it ends up being like $400!

That was longer than I planned on it being but thought I would share some things I wish we’d know ahead of time!

futuremrss17 :  wow, awesome advice!! Thank you!! I was a little hesitant to book at la toc for that reason, I heard about the rough waters but I figured we’d be able to bounce around anyway! And I’m definitely going to look into that helicopter ride, it sounds amazing! Thanks so much for your help!
