We’re going to St. Lucia to a smaller boutique hotel that I scored a deal on a number of months ago. It’s the Hotel Chocolat. There are a bunch of small hotels in that area that are good.

I don’t really have anything to add, but I vote St. Lucia because that’s where we’re going.  😛 But not until November or December,  and I haven’t done *that* much research, so I don’t have any resort or excursion recommendations. But I’m finding this thread very helpful!

I think Thailand sounds lovely, but if it was me it would feel more like a trip and less like a vacation, which is what I want for my honeymoon. I’d feel obligated to do more sight seeing and less relaxing there than St. Lucia to justify flying across the world. I’d save it for an adventure for another time. 🙂

@dressedinlovexo:  Yup – somwhere between $3000-$3500, and we were staying in mid-range places ($30-$50 per day for everything- food, hotel, drinks, foot massages…). Flights were $2000 from Canada. You could spend much more if you stayed in swankier spots, but we always had our own room and bathroom, and a few times we splurged on beachfront bungalows or excursions such as visiting an elephant sanctuary. We had LOTS of time to spend days reading in hammocks or walking/playing frisbee on the beach or exploring temples in the cities. Travel in SE asia is slow so we flew everywhere (flights were all under $100 each)

I didn’t read that you were going for a week… with the jet lag it’s probably only worth it unless you can go for 2 weeks (takes a day or two to get your energy back, although that may not be a factor if you’re planning on just relaxing on beaches!). There’s so much to see and do in southeast asia, but if you can get 2 weeks then I’d say pick maybe 2-3 spots to visit and just relax.

Railay near Krabi/Phuket was my favourite spot. Beautiful beaches surrounded by limestone cliffs, accessed only by longtail boats, monkeys running around, gorgeous beach waves, and this hooka bar with an acoustic guitar set every night.

If it’s not do-able for your honeymoon, I’d recommend doing it one time you have a few weeks off! I’m hoping to go back with my Fiance before we have kids of our own! We’re planning on honeymooning in Costa Rica as we have only a week put aside and a smaller budget.

@dressedinlovexo:  We did NOTHING!  It was so nice.  We read by the pool/beach, got massages, drink, eat swm.  It was nice to have no agenda and just relax.

The elephant was sooooo cute!  They would bring him around the pool and he would give you “elephant massage” with his trunk.  Of course you tip him with some bhat which he takes from you with his trunk.

@dressedinlovexo:  we did a lot of sightseeing in Bangkok, so by the time we got to Phuket it was time to chill.  lol
