@Mata_Hari:  The nude beach!  But make sure you leave your camera behind because some of the sunbathers will freak even if you just carrying your camera on its strap; apparently some people are sneaky enough to take photos on the sly so they really enforce the no camera policy.

Other than that make sure to take a tour of the island (Pearl is my favorite cabbie.)  We felt the French side had nicer beaches but the Dutch side of the island had friendlier people.  We went to the local farmers market and ate local curry in a stall, it was beyond delicious and a nicely authentic experience.  They also seel coconut water fresh out of coconuts at the farmers market.

Maho Beach is where the jetliners fly over before landing.

If you can afford it, take a boat to St. Barths where the celebrities play!

On which side of the island will you be staying? I’ve stayed on both the Dutch and French sides and liked them both. I remember really enjoying the shopping in Marigot, some restaurants in Phillipsburg, and several of the beaches, especially Orient Beach. I also took a sailboat to Pinel (sp?) island. That was beautiful, though the trip made me nauseous.
