I’m on a serious budget, but most everything is being done by someone – cake, hosting the venue, food…all that, so I don’t know that I have any pointers for you in that direction, but I just wanted to say, I grew up in Jacksonville and know and love Saint Simon’s Island – and you are very very lucky indeed. When I get homesick, it’s that particular landscape that strikes at my heart. Enjoy every minute!

Well, when I say “serious budget” that’s misleading, in that it implies that there actually *is* one. I am semi -employed and Fiance was laid off last November. It’s a super-small guest list of 30-40 people. A friend is holding the wedding in her home and footing food and drinks as a wedding gift. Her home is beautiful and really needs no decoration. There will be candles and books (we met at a poetry reading and that is the theme of the wedding), which is not expensive, another friend will be officiant, another friend is making the cake (wedding gift), a seamstress friend is making my dress (wedding gift). We’re trying to get a talented amateur photographer, we’ll handwrite our invites…see, it’s one of these community barn-raising kind of events.

We’re in an LDR right now, and when Fiance moves over here and gets settiled in with a job and my own employment prospects hopefully improve with a new degree, I guess then we can start looking at finishing touches that we can afford.

What does your 3000 fee get you?
