I have a stand in but after talking to my sister in law who has a ring worth quite a bit, I learned to just live with it and love it. I don’t wear my travel ring at all and I’m happy that I get to enjoy my ring. The gym is the only place I do worry about it as it’s not something to be left unattended, I use a small pill box and put it in my leggings pocket of sports bra.

I have a stand in!  Fiance and I love travelling and have a number of trips planned in the next 18 months to less-safe destinations.  When he proposed, he gave me both my *real* ring and a replica he had the jeweller make.  It’s a CZ and stirling silver with “let’s run away” engraved inside.  The only time I wear my stand in ring is when travelling to countries where the risk of theft is high.

I will add — I don’t wear my ring to the gym (for the reasons you stated).  A few years ago my Maid/Matron of Honor and I bought matching dainty silver bands (1mm) at a local market which I usually wear on my right ring finger.  I tend to swap that over to my left hand when at the gym because I also hate that naked finger feeling.  A stand in ring is likely to be made of weaker materials so is more likely to be damaged in the gym — maybe just find a cute stacking ring you like and swap where you wear it?

I have a stand in! I handle fine art for a living and my ering with gloves is the worst. On days I know I will be handling things, or whenever I travel I switch it for my “stand in”. It is a diamond channel set gold band. It was the one I was having a hard time choosing over my plain wedding band and I am so glad I got it. I use it all the time and its flat so it wont catch but still sparklie and actually matches my wedding set 🙂 I highly reccomend it.

I’ve not heard of or seen stand in rings. But now that I think about it it’s not a bad idea 🙂

I usually just not wear my ring when I’m going to work out / play sports / do chores etc and even just sitting around the house I tend not to wear it. Wouldn’t mind a simple band to stand in for times when I do those things.

I have a stand in ring that I’ve only worn once when we were travelling. I purposely chose a stone smaller than my real ering and when I got home and put my ring on I had reverse ring shrinkage haha.

I got a few stand ins just to play with some different styles while traveling but I honestly wear them less than I thought. Since my wedding band is a thin diamond band I’ll probably just wear that by itself for travel once we are married. We did go to some countries with a higher theft rate back over the holidays so I wore my stand ins then, but for traveling lately I’ve been wearing my real one everywhere. I know you’re not supposed to wear your ring to the gym but everyone seems to around here. Maybe it’s an LA thing…

for me the idea of wanting to wear a wedding ring all the time is weird. i dont think jewelry is appropriate for all occassions. i don’t need everyone at the gym to know i’m married, same goes for at the beach, so the idea of buying specialty/fake jewelry for that purpose seems silly. if wearing my jewelry during an activity means i’m likely to hurt myself, damage my jewelry, lose my jewelry or get robbed…i’m cool with looking single.

i do love looking at everyone elses stand-ins though. it seems like an inexpensive way to play with different styles of rings and you can switch them up anytime you like. 🙂 🙂

I never wear my e-ring and I’m getting married in three weeks. I don’t like rings with stones because I work with my hands and I’m not “girly”. We just picked a pretty (and inexpensive) ring together after he proposed – he proposed without the ring because I wanted to be the one to pick it out but I also wanted it to be a suprise. That being said we did spend a pretty penny on my platinum band that I plan on wearing after we are married. However, we both bought silicone rings for the gym, camping, and traveling. I realized that we wouldn’t be able to wear our rings on our honeymoon (adventure package so lots of acitivities) and that made me sad so we each got a silicone ring.
