I’m in the process of getting a 10×7.5 pear solitaire with a channel set band from Starsgem. I talked to other bees that are familiar with both Tiyanu and Starsgem, and was told that the few pear rings they saw from Tiyanu had to be returned at the end for various issues, and told me to go with Starsgem. I don’t have much to give you since my brother kind of hijacked my project so my SO can keep it as much a surprise as possible (even though I’ve fully designed it haha). but if I can get a CAD out of him here soon and some pictures, I’ll definitely share them! I’m attaching my design so you can see, they quoted me with no problems on the design I requested. Good luck!

(only edit to design is i’m doing a 3/4 band rather than full and a sapphire or blue moissanite for the peekaboo.) Ring

You can also check moissanites_diamonds (Starsgem) on IG, they have quite a few pictures of some beautiful pear cut moissanites!

everymealattiffanys :  I would go for it honestly, I’ve seen some pretty dang intricate rings come out from Starsgem, one lady got a verragio look alike and it turned out beautiful. I love your ring design! I wanted to get a hidden halo so bad but was too hung up on the fact that my band is princess and the halo would be rounds lol! I would search through the Starsgem thread on here; https://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/starsgem-cads-and-final-products/ and the reddit subgroup moissanites, I just search for things specifically from starsgem. I was worried about my ring being too complicated but I’ve seen some that were way more complicated be made beautifully. I would definitely go Starsgem either way though, from what I’ve seen the thing that Tiyanu excels at over SG is the cuts of rounds, and as that isn’t what you want, it doesn’t really matter! Good luck!

I’m pretty sure I was looking at that ring from TG, is there technically two hidden halos yeah? I saw one bee get almost exactly that same style ring but one with a cushion and one with an oval and they both came out beautiful. It should be in the starsgem CAD thread link I posted in the comment above!

everymealattiffanys :  Starsgem has done quite a few pears and they have been pretty low in color and in yellow gold and still faced up pretty white.  I think the 2 companies do a similar cut and you are probably smart to skip the crushed ice.  Tianyu’s CAD’s seem a bit more restrictive in how they design solitaire’s though and they have a tendency to make them rather thick between the fingers if you are not careful. I would just go for the brilliant cut.  I was finishing up my ring with my SG stone with my jeweler in LA and he showed me a Harro pear that he had just done.  I think this looks fantastic and whenever I have asked SG to cut like a Harro version, they have always said they are familiar.  You might want to use this pic as a guide for them if you like it.

I had a nightmare experience with Tianyu. I think they do terrible work and they are a shady company (they refused to refund me unless I removed a negative review). I have ordered several stones and custom pieces from Starsgem and they are amazing. Their cutting is way better than Tianyu.
