hm2012 :  these are gorgeous. What are the cost savings like for a project like this? I am currently looking at resetting my 3 stone engagement ring, I want to do a halo on the center stone, and am finding the cost high considering I already have the stones. I’ve contacted a few local Jewellers but Maybe that’s my lack of experience though as this is the first time I have done anything like this.

Thanks for starting this thread! I don’t have a CAD yet, since my boyfriend wants to wait a month when he can sell some shares for my engagement ring. I posted this is in another thread, but here’s a drawing for it (inspired by another ring). Since I still have a month to debate, I’m still deciding if the heart prongs (since my inspo prongs remind me of leaves and go with the vine theme)  are too busy/if I should go with claw prongs. Also, I love rose cut pears and feel safer getting one over the antique style, but I can’t decide if that would also make my ring too busy. I’m so indecisive!

hm2012 :  would you mind me asking how much the 2 completed projects cost. So how much did the eternity band cost and the setting for the twist halo? Thanks.

It’s going to take my awhile to get all my CAD’s and pictures uploaded but I thought I would start with a few.  This was the guinea pig first order ring from SG because they were only selling loose stones at this time last year on ebay. This is the Meghan Markle version with an antique cushion cut in two tone gold.  Stones are all G/H and this ring was my first project so  the dimensions were a little thicker than some of my other projects.  This ring is very solid and heavy (but in a good way).  Comfort style band and the gold and stones have all tested positive from a jeweler.  I had the stone cut to order, which was $245 and I think the setting was somewhere around $500.

Next project was a bezel set full eternity band with 2 mm moissanite in E/F.  They do not come in G/H in that small a size.  Band is 18K gold and the price was $345 and something like $400 with shipping & ebay/PP fee’s.

This ring is a elongated antique cushion cut in platinum.  This is still my favorite moissanite stone cut and I think it looks the most diamond like.  Matches all of my G colored diamonds and doesn’t go flat in any light.  This ring is with G/H stones and tapered baguettes.  The stone was cut to order but was probably more expensive than normal because it was cut at an odd dimension.  I was following an inspiration picture but I would suggest sticking with standard stone sizes if you want to save on costs.  This ring is pretty solid like my other rings and very comfortable.  Now that I have several rings in varying dimensions, there are a few things I would have changed, like tapering the bottom.  I love this stone and style so much that I decided to buy another larger elongated ACC from SG but I am having this one done at a jewelers with diamond baguettes and hand engraving.  I will post pictures of that one when it is completed in another month.  Price was around $800 but would probably be $100 cheaper if standard stone sizes were used and probably another $200 cheaper than that if it was done in gold instead of platinum.

I ordered a 7 stone tapered baguette band to matching the elongated ACC in 4×2 mm tapers in G/H & Platinum.  I rarely wear this band as I find the tapers to be completely dull with almost no sparkle.  I can not recommend getting these kind of moissanites unless you were going to mix them on a band with some round cuts.  This one was around $500.
