j_bishae :  I saw your ring and that’s  what made me think they can do it! But I forgot to send it to them and now it’s too late. I’m getting a true channel set without the beads between the pave. 😭

I got the video of my ring from Provence today and I’m bothered by by the prongs. I can’t copy the video from WhatsApp to show you but I have screenshots of it. Do you think the prongs are ugly/too bulky?

i asked for daintier prongs and showed them carmelovesyou’s ring as an example, I included a photo of her prongs to show you.

I told Elsa in response to the video that the the prongs need to be more like the picture and I also asked to see the ring on a finger from more of a distance. I know the videos are close up and wonder if they just magnify so much that they make everything look way bigger/more extreme than they really look in person when the ring is on your finger?

i really hope they don’t have to cast a new ring and I hope they don’t give me a hard time if it comes to that 🙁

everymealattiffanys :  I don’t think the prongs are bigger necessarily. I think they’re a bit rounder or softer than the inspiration pic you sent them. They shouldn’t have to recast it though. I think the prongs can be shaved down if you wanted them to.

This sounds like a really obvious one, whats the typical design cost for a bespoke ring?

Thanks,

So my ring is finally here! It got stuck in customs for 3 weeks and the wait was killing me. First picture is under a shaded porch.

My concern before shipping was that the pear main stone looks yellowish. I requested for a g/h color. This is my pic inside the house

As you can see, it has a warm color. Very noticeable compared to the other stones beside it. I compared it with stud earrings that I also ordered in I/j color and they were really white compared to my pear ring. So I guess for pears and other shapes, it would be better to order the def so its really white. I don’t really mind cause I’m liking the warm color and in outside light it’s very white.

Here are some other pics inside the car on a sunny day

In terms of fit, my ring is very comfortable for such an intricate design. I’m also happy about how they executed the design. I will post a video soon of my ring and also some pics and video too of the stud earrings I ordered so others can see an I/J color moissanite from stars gem.

Here is a link to video of my ring, I asked for a video from further away to see if the prongs looked any different. I still don’t like the prongs and have asked that they make them finer and push them in closer to the stone so that they don’t stick out so much. I am waiting to hear back. https://vimeo.com/311241389

ellecherie :  Beautiful ring! I love the way it turned out, and I’m totally digging the colour. It makes your ring just a bit more interesting than it already is and really draws the eye in to the center.

everymealattiffanys :  The prongs on your inspo pic are more rounded, and cover up more of the stone. I think SG tried to cover up less of the stone face with the prongs, and in doing so, made the metal slightly bulkier on the sides to ensure safety. You could ask them to round it down a bit for you (right now they are very square), which would also make the prongs appear less bulky, but it could make the stone less secure.

ellecherie :  What size is yours? Mine is 6×9 GH and looks white in most lights, slightly warm in others. I prefer it this way, but i can see why others might not.

vc329 :  Yes, I told them the prongs look too square to me. Elva told me the engineer said it’s toolate to modify the prongs so I asked for a refund if they are not able to fix it. I just got a response of “hmmm” from Elva. So far it looks like I am learning my lesson and seeing I should’ve just gone with TIANYU or StarsGem. 🙁

everymealattiffanys :  My stand-in e-ring from my SO also has squared off prongs like yours. I actually quite liked it; it looks a bit more modern but less “soft”. Personally I think your prongs go very nicely with the knife-edge, but in the end it is completely up to you! Fingers crossed you will get a result you’re happy with!

everymealattiffanys :  that sucks!  I agree though…not digging those prongs.  Not sure if it’s my personal feeling or if it’s wonky.  Hope it works out somehow 😬
