Hi, random question, but does anyone still work with Mona now that she left Starsgem? I follow her instagram and it looks like she still takes orders but independently or with another company.

supanovastarr :  I’ve been talking to Mona recently. She’s no longer with SG but the Instagram handle is hers, and she still is working with moissanites and taking orders. She didnt mention if she was working with another company; it kind of seemed like she’s independent now

Hi everyone! Just put a deposit down on a ring. I’m looking for a 9x7mm elongated cushion cut. I chose a G color but I’m wondering if I made a mistake and should have went with EF instead. It’s going to be set in white gold. Any advice please??

hm2012 :  yeah they haven’t even made my cad yet but I was just wondering if anyone else had experience, I want a little warmth in my stones because I believe the icy white colors look “off” and kinda like plastic

Here is my CAD after I’ve made some adjustments. What do you guys think? I’m seriously so torn. I can’t decise if I should upgrade to a 10×8 cushion cut center stone considering I wear a size 13. I want good finger coverage.

bdare16 :  Just a couple comments – I think that 12 mm is good finger coverage but I can understand if you want to go bigger for your ring size.  That spread is about the equivalent of a 6 carat elongated solitaire stone and the halo stones are quite small. If you want to keep the halo delicate, you can increase the center stone to 8×10.  You might want to consider lab diamonds for the pave/halo to get better sparkle. The costs increase for that size is pretty low.

Most rings have a thickness of 1.8 mm.  I don’t know if SG made this CAD or not but they have a tendency to polish the rings down to lower than what is stated on the CAD so you may want to tell them that you would like the thickness to end at 1.8 mm.  I would probably not go with double claw prongs since you have the halo. The reasons being is you don’t want to create gaps in the corners or they wiill become dirt traps for lotion and grime. Almost all halo’s have single claw prongs for that reason.  You might also want to tell them that you don’t want any airline on the halo. I think the best halo’s are the ones that have the stone slightly lifted and the halo tucked right up to it so you have no gap and it looks like one piece.  If you put some diamonds across the basket, I think that would look great.  I would not put them on the bridge if you plan on wearing a band with it in the future because they will scratch your band very badly.  Hope that helps….

angelwaye :  thank you so much!i think I’m going to meet in the middle and get a 9.5×7.5mm stone. I went ahead and changed the CAD to single claw prongs and only stones across the basket. I didn’t even think about the bridge causing issues with future bands and since this is my e-ring I’ll definitely have a band or two.

Good morning ladies!!

I just sent out quotes yesterday for my ering, sent out one to grace and one to jocie just to see what they said back. Jocie still has yet to get a quote but Grace quotes me $1150. It’s definitely higher end, but any setting I’ve searched for in the style I want was over 1k so I’m not really caught up on that. My issue is that I instantly started thinking of ways to cut the cost. It is within our ability to afford, and my boyfriend is pushing me to get it since it’s exactly what I want, but I can’t help but think about the money that I could save if I changed the style/size stone/ etc. Attaching the picture I sent them, the only edit I have is the peekaboo stone be blue/blue sapphire for my boyfriends birthstone. You think that is a good quote price though? I did request for princess cut for the channel band, and they didn’t say anything about not being able to do it so that’s a good thing possibly?! Ring
