ceeceelove :  Yep, they can! It’s more expensive to go that route as opposed to having them provide the center stone though. Shipping to China is about $35.

ceeceelove :  They have always told me that they are not allowed to set other people’s stones.  I tried to get a 5 stone ring and I wanted to send my loose diamonds so it fit properly but thy said they can’t. You can order the ring and have it set locally as long as you have the correct dimensions to provide them.

angelwaye :  That’s so crazy that you get different answers depending on who your rep is. Demi told me no problem and gave me a quote for the setting only. I had one rep (Sherry) tell me they didn’t offer 9k or 10k gold either, but they do. Also, prices can fluctuate depending on who is giving the quote, as I’m sure you know. Sounds like it pays to talk to more than one employee! Makes it more difficult and confusing for the customers for sure though.

angelwaye :  I have a 7mm moissanite but don’t know the exact measurements, Will that info alone be good enough for them to create a setting

hm2012 :  You’re exactly right, it isn’t worth paying shipping 3x. Once for the loose stone, once to ship it back and again for the completed ring.

ceeceelove : You could provide measurements and just have them send you an empty setting and have it set locally, but that’s way too risky IMO. I’d probably go the stock Stuller setting route as opposed to taking the chance with a Chinese company. They aren’t that much more for a simple setting from what I’ve seen.

Just as an example, Demi said it would be $280 for a complete ring or $220 for the setting only. Comparatively, the loose stone from them is $133, so I’d save $73 immediately (plus the hassle and extra shipping costs) for them to provide the stone.

If I already had the stone that I absolutely loved and didn’t want to replace I might reconsider, but it’s still a pain to ship things to China and round stones are very inexpensive. (If that’s what you have.) You’d probably come out ahead to have them just make the whole thing though.

michellelynn9175 :  yes I currently have a 7mm round  and I was thinking of getting something like this to be custom.. my current halo ring has 1.3mm stones but I would like to change it maybe have each stone to be a bigger from 2.5mm-3mm

hm2012 :

I did. Hubby had to show me how to edit. I did change the prongs to one so, Thick sort of prong. I’m not sure if you’ve seen Kirstin Coffin twig rings? I got the prongs resemblance of those.. like resemble the end of a petal. I didnt think of extending the petals that wouldve been awesome. we have had a litle bit of communication issues which is to be expected, but Demi has assured me it’ll come out the way I want and if it doesnt they have no problem with remaking. Now we are in the “waiting” phase. is it crazy to say that my anxiety is through the roof!?! I went back and forth between colorless moissanite anf grey. My first ring was a morganite and its safe to say I adore something different and color is my go to. I really hope the ring is what I want and look forward to seeing it.

ceeceelove :    beautiful ring choice!  Where is your stock photo from?   I just wanted to chime in because I have a very similar ring but mine has 12 stones in halo instead of 10.  Mine are 2.75mm around a 6 5mm stone.  I love my ring but just wanted to give you the heads up that it makes for a lot of bling on your hand with halo stones that large.   I adore the floral feel to my ring but I am self conscious about the size given my  stay at home mom lifestyle.   My photos are sideways no matter how I turn them- sorry!

plantprop :  omg LOVELY RING! ๐Ÿ˜‰

i actually found that stock photo on google when I was searching halo with plain shank and that came up! I totally LOVE the bling look! I know a lot of bees prefer smaller side stones on a halo but I’m soo the opposite! And so funny I’m also a Stay-At-Home Mom, I totally know what you mean though.. But it is my dream ring to have a bigger halo ๐Ÿ™‚

what is the width of your band? I think my plan is to go with a 2.3 mm size diamond to go with my 7mm center and with a 2.5 width band.

I got my CAD!!

The lovely angelwaye has been helping me through this whole process, but I wanted to share my CAD since I haven’t seen many pears out there, as well, more eyes are better in my opinion!

I definitely want the band more at 2.5 after polishing, I’m unfamiliar with the bottom part of the band being slimmer though, should I do 2.5 throughout?

The prongs look oddly thick to me, trying not to get caught up on it but maybe I’m not the only one. As well, one view shows 6 prongs the others show 5 so that is weird… I asked for 5 but not sure if I should go with 6.

In my design I have the peekaboo stone, I’m assuming thats the .9? I want it blue/ sapphire so I need to make sure they understand that.

All other CAD’s I’ve seen also show the size of the center stone as far as I can remember..but mine doesn’t? It’s a custom size cut (10×7.5) so maybe that’s why I’m not sure, but that worries me too. She did ask me for a specific picture of what cut I wanted so hope everything’s okay on that end.

Otherwise… any input!?! I’m so excited!

hm2012 :  I know it’s been a while, but do you still have your French cut eternity band? I wanted to know the performance of it. I love diamond French cuts and the metallic glimmer they give off and was hoping moissanite did the same.

if anyone else has a French cut moissanite, please feel free to chime in. Thanks!
