- Wedding: September 2015
So, we’re having a fall, outdoor ceremony/indoor dancing reception, wedding in Texas, so not hot as balls, but still hot. Generally speaking, I like dresses that are structurally interesting, like shaping or the fabric, as opposed to, “Cover it in sparkle and we’ll call it a day.” Nothing against bling, but I fidget and when I fidget, I pick at things and when I’m nervous, I do it even more. If I got a dress with a bunch of crystals or beading, half would be gone before the ceremony.
That being said, I found 4 dresses (3 at Alfred Angelo, 1 at a nearby boutique) that I really like and would appreciate some outside perspective.
3rd favorite from AA:
My dad likes this one. It was a size 10, so we’re holding it down to where it would sit if it fit (I’m a 20, mostly in the chest and hips). I like it, I just worry that it’s too much for an outdoor wedding.
2rd favorite from AA:
I really liked the colored floral print on this one. I also love the corset back. What I didn’t like was that the print is only on the front of the dress, leaving the back very plain. Also, the bow…not a big fan of the bow… Also, my mom’s favorite.
Tied for 1st from AA:
This was also a size 10, and a zip back, so it really didn’t fit, but I love love love the tiers and how simple, yet unique it is. There’s a dress my grandma wore in a picture when she was younger (not her wedding dress), that I said I wanted my dress to look like, but fuller. This is that, or as close to it as I’ve found. I really want to try this one on in my size.
Finally, Tied for 1st from the boutique:
I know, I know, I said I didn’t like sparkle. This one just kinda knocked me over. I told the consultant that soft sparkle, like sequins, was ok. I just didn’t want to be overpowered by it or have the urge to yank it off. So, she put me in this one and I was floored. I loved the corset back and the silhouette. The lace goes around to the back to and partially down the train. Downsides, it’s a heavy dress. Kinda like the first pic I posted, I worry that it’s too much for an outdoor affair. Also, because it’s heavy, it’s not the easiest to move and dance in. It’s also the most expensive. Still under budget, but only a couple hundred short.
Anyways, here they are. I’d appreciate any feedback y’all may have.
