As soon as this cycle is over I’m starting clomid with a trigger shot. I’m a bit nervous as my OBGYN has said she will only try that for two months before moving on. So I feel like I’m under pressure!!
I just have a few questions for you ladies who’ve done it.
– Should I expect very bad moods? I get pretty bad pmt every couple of months anyway.
– Did you find it dried up you cm? Should I try preseed. Ive used it in the past. Did you do something else to help (eg EPO)?
– At what point can you test without getting a false positive? I’m terrified of doing that and getting my hopes up!
– How long did you try it for? Did it work? I’m only asking this because two months seems very little. Maybe it’s because I’m 35 but that isn’t even that old!!

Im on my 5th cycle with clomid with the trigger now. If this cycle fails we will most likely be moving onto IVF. The only side effects I had was hot flushes and dry cm so preseed is very helpful. I think testing could be different for everyone but I tested the trigger out of my system my first cycle and at 8dpt I stopped getting positives. When i first started clomid my nurse said that I should get my bfp by the 3 cycle on clomid. We continued with a few more rounds of clomid because i wasnt ready to do IVF but i didnt want to stop trying altogether. Im ovulating and dh is all good so that leaves IVF or IUI.

I’ve had two failed cycles of Clomid and trigger, one with ti and the other with iui. I had two cycles before that with just Clomid, no trigger too.. No side effects at all and never tested until 14 dpo. my re says that statistically, Clomid and femera have the same results, but onman individual by individual case, she has seen where femera worked where Clomid did not. In trying 2 more iui before possibly ivf since iuis are just a copay for me.

I luckily fell pregnant my first round of clomid + metformin + trigger + IUI. I did take clomid prior without trigger and it never helped me to ovulate until I added the met and trigger. I didn’t have side effects with clomid and I got my BFP at 12dpiui which was 14 dp trigger. It was confirmed with a blood test at 14dpiui (16 dp trigger). Best of luck, I hope it works!!

Should I expect very bad moods? — > I didn’t have any changes in my mood
Did you find it dried up you cm? I don’t remember if it did, but used preseed just in case anyways.
At what point can you test without getting a false positive? Do you have some cheapy PG tests? You can start testing after you get the trigger and watch the + fade gradually as days go on. Once you see no + test after the trigger, you can be pretty certain a postive after 2 weeks is the real deal!
We didn’t get the trigger (didn’t end up needing it), but we got pregnant first cycle of Clomid and our little guy is almost 6 months old now… had a perfect pregnancy to boot! Good luck, try not to stress (it won’t help 🙂 ) and keep us posted!!!

mrsfang: Thanks for the reply and the advice to test until you get a negative first cycle. Think I’ll be buying tests and preseed online tomorrow! I’m sorry you haven’t gotten your bfp yet. I think I’ll be like you and want to keep going. I really hope you get your bfp soon.
pinkshoes: Thanks. I’ve never actually heard of femera so will have to ask about that. Sucks you haven’t gotten your bfp Yet. Fx that you get it with IUI.
BOGB: Thanks for sharing your story. I don’t know what metaformin is though! Congrats on your pregnancy. I think I recognise you from 1+ boards but haven’t been that active there myself.

StaceyA: lindsayandchris09: No bother! It’s good to hear success stories!
StaceyA: Thanks for the advice and info. Have a couple of cheapies to see me through this month but will have to get a load of them now! Congrats on the success and your LO 🙂

phoebephoebo: Yup, I was on the 1+ boards for a little bit. Metformin is sometimes also called glucophage – it’s a drug used primarily for diabetes but in some with PCOS it’s been shown to help with insulin resistance which can sometimes be a cause for wonky cycles for those with PCOS.
Where are you in your cycle now? Have you started the clomid?

BOGB: Oh, right! It’s good to be armed with lots of information before I see my doc again. I’m on cd26 but only Od (unexpectedly) on cd 20 so assuming its going to be a long one. So in about a week or so. I suppose I could get a bfp but I’m more realistic about that expectation these days!! I’m just glad that I’m getting a bit of help over the next few cycles. There is really nobody IRL to talk about these things, apart from DH!!
