I start my IVF protocol in a week.
I’m starting with the Suprefact nasal spray and baby asprin then injectables 2 weeks later.
We’re planning to do a frozen transfer based on the recommendation of our clinic (assuming we get good embryos that are suitable for freezing – trying to be optimistic)
We fall into the ‘unexplained infertility’ category.
Any advice or experience is welcome! Please cross your fingers for us!

MsGinkgo : hi bee! I’m an Ontario bee. Just wanted to wish you luck. I did IVF last year. My fresh cycle failed but we conceived with our frozen embryo. He is 5 months old today! So advice- I did acupuncture during the fresh cycle but not the frozen one, go figure lol. I would still recommend it since it’s great for stress. Try to get lots of rest and treat your body well. It’s such a hard thing to go through. I personally took CoQ10 etc for egg quality since that was an issue in my case. Don’t get too hung up on the embryo grades – my successful one was a low grade so I thought it was doomed for sure ! Good luck. I sincerely hope you get your sticky baby !

YogaMama : I also took COq10 and although didn’t go through IVF the supplements made a HUGE difference in my egg quality, increasing their numbers and no fragmentation. I took 600mg/day (200mg x 3 day) for 3 months before trying.
Costco has the best prices and bigger packaging. Just take 3 pills of the 200mg bottles a day.

YogaMama : my clinic strongly encourages Frozen tranfsers. Apparently they’re showing higher success rates – they’re currently trying to see if they can figure out why. As long as we have a good number of embryos suitable for freezing that’s what we’re going to do. I think there’s something about day 3 quality and they’ll do fresh if they have to.
We fall into the unexplained infertility category. I’m intrigued by the CoQ10 – our doctor has said more than once that you can’t make better eggs, just more (although I may have misunderstood something).
I’m really hoping that we only have to do one cycle. I know I may be dreaming, but I’m trying my hardest to be positive.
I’m staring with Suprefact Nasal Spray – did you use it?

MsGinkgo : hmmm I’m not sure. It may be true that you can’t improve quality but it can’t hurt to try ! I had mildly elevated FSH. So possibly low quality. And we only have the eggs we were born with right ? I was lucky and only had the one retrieval. From 12 eggs retrieved I had 8 fertilize and only 2 made it to day 5. By day 3 I think 5 were good. But my clinic does say 5 transfers if possible. What is the nasal spray for ? I did not have that. I had my injectables and that was all.

YogaMama : My clinic doesn’t use the pill to control/prevent ovulation. They use this nasal spray. I do that for 2 weeks starting on CD21. Then I go in for ultrasound and down regulation (don’t actually know that that means) and they’ll determine if I’m starting injectables or not. Assuming things go well I start injectables the long weekend in July (or around there) and retrieval will be in early July.
Assuming things go well, I wait again for CD21 and start the spray again and get ready for the frozen transfer. So I think at earliest I’ll be transferring late August.

MsGinkgo : my fertility doctor told me that COq10 *can* improve egg quality and told me to take 600mg a day. But it takes 3 cycles for a new egg to develop, so would have to be taken for 3 cycles + to get the benefits.
